Book 02/06 (Current Version: Prototype - Version 1.0) This story/fanfiction is a 'what if scenario' within the Sci-Fi videogame series known as Halo and is based on an original character named 'Lieutenant Serenity McKnight' that partners with the legendary Master Chief himself, after the UNSC Pillar of Autumn had escaped a Halo Ring known as Installation 04 by the help of a mysterious alien of myth and legend called a Forerunner. From this Forerunner, it pledged itself and its forces of unknown magnitude to fight the genocidal war against the Covenant, to protect humanity. The UNSC Pillar of Autumn heads course back home, to the Solar System, Earth. A big mystery slowly unveils on humanities newest ally. Will our heroes within the UNSC turn the tides of the conflict in the fates of their species? What will this alliance with the Forerunner entail to go on the offensive? All will be revealed in due time. The story is a 'reimagining' of Halo and is non-canon and is to be not taken seriously as this was an idea created back when I first played the games. Combat Evolved is the first book of my main series known as 'Halo Battle Buddies' and will lead up to the first game and beyond. (Canonically he is considered dead or MIA) In this story, it takes place after the events of Halo 3 going to Halo 4. Noble 6 and Echo 5 had left Reach mysteriously by ONI, and is reintegrated into the UNSC/ONI forces. After the Human/Covenant War had officially ended in 2553, the duo will be apart of a reactivated program by ONI, known as Project Freelancer. To help lead the way on the reconstruction efforts and safety throughout human territory. (And even go on convert missions against a resurfacing Insurrectionist movement and classified tests in the process as well.) A UNSC veteran recalls his early life before the Covenant, when humanity's greatest enemy was themselves. The Insurrection had torn the colonies apart, and on the planet Mamore, war was unleashed in the most brutal fashion: terrorism. *FIRST DRAFT*

When the Aliens, the Covenant, invaded, it seemed as if Mankind had no hope. Then the Spartans came to the rescue. These genetically modified super soldiers, originally meant to quell insurrectionist activity, now held the fate of their race in their hands. Many died for the cause, and many victories were won because of their intervention. Through all the dirt and blood, one rose above them all, Master Chief, or John 117. This ultimate Spartan II, paired with the special AI, or artificial intelligence, Cortana, led humanity to victory time and time again, escaping death more times than thought possible. However, after defeating the zombie-like Flood that threatened humanity and aliens alike, he disappeared without a trace. With hope at an all time low, and alien threats still on the horizon, something had to be done. This is the purpose of Steele, Spartan 118. Despite the process being banned after Spartan IIs, humanity is desperate, and so he's kidnapped, trained, and augmented the same as the original Spartan IIs by Dr. Catherine Halsey. The pressure is now on to replicate the Master Chief through him, and the road of Hero will not be easy. Secrets are kept from him, trust is broken, and hidden enemies threaten his life and those around him. However, Steele was chosen for a reason, and those who threaten the innocent better watch out.
