Its Not Noon Yet

Chapter 5: it's not noon yet

Shuichi's POV

I woke up to a loud bang and Kokichi in my arms. Not sure how that happened but I guess it's not a bad thing.
"Open up fucker I know you're in there!" An oddly familiar voice yelled while banging on the door.
"Huh?" I questioned. It didn't sound like my girlfriend, who else would be looking for me?
"Oh no" Kokichi got up and pushed me out of the bed. "Go hide somewhere."
"Ok." I sluggishly made my way to the bathroom. I could still hear Kokichi and the person at the door talking.

"Hey, what the fuck have you been doing?! I've been worried sick about you!" The voice said loudly.
"Miu, you're squeezing me too hard." An out of breath Kokichi replied.
"Did you forget that I can track you you dumbass?!"
"No I didn't, seems though by how long it took you to find me that you forgot that you can track me." Kokichi laughed.
"Oh be quiet! I'm so glad your safe! I looked everywhere for you! You missed something huge! Shuichi never even showed up to the wedding so there's no need for you to be sad about him marrying someone else!" I heard a loud slap as though Miu patted Kokichi on the back.

"Shh, you're way too loud, and I already know he didn't show up."
"Huh? You know? How'd you know?! Did you text with someone else but not have the decency to text me back?!" Miu got louder.
"No no no, Shuichi's with me."
"What in the hell-"
I walked out of the bathroom and yawned loudly.

"Hey Miu." I waved.
"Whaaaa, what the fuck is going on here?! Are you two fucking?!"
"No! We didn't get close to each other!" Kokichi hit Miu lightly on the shoulder, "get your mind out of the gutter!"
The two of them argued for a bit but Kokichi left and went back into the bed.

"You know I was wondering how he got 3 hours away from the hotel without money or a car, I'm assuming you drove?" Miu looked at me.
"Yeah, how was everything?" I looked to her.
"Well I can say with confidence that your girlfriend is super sweet, why'd you leave? She's super heartbroken."
"I kinda figured, it's a bit of a long story."
"Do you have your phone on you?" Miu looked to me.

"Yeah why?"
"Can I see it?"
"Sure?" I handed Miu my phone and tried to see what she was doing.
"He seems to want to stay with you, at least for the time being, I have his stuff on me, I can come drop it off in a bit. I put my number in your phone and put you on Life360 with us. Will you let me know how he's doing every now and then?"

"Of course! I'm sorry about this, really I am."
"It's fine! You're lucky I convinced Kaede to stay in the car, I won't tell anyone you two are together as long as you send me updates."
"Sure thing, if you end up going back to the hotel, you can let my girlfriend know I'll answer her if she calls, she probably wants to talk." I half smiled.
"Yeah, I'm sure she does. I'll come back in a bit with his suitcase." She turned around and stopped, turning back to me she said, "I'm trusting you with him, you better take care of him." She glared at me.
"I will... I promise."

Miu gave me Kokichi's things and left. She looked super sad, like she was a lonely mom now with a kid leaving for college. I felt kinda bad. Kokichi looked like he fell back asleep. I laid back down on the bed and just stared up at the ceiling. Kokichi turned around and put his arm around me. I'm not sure if he was completely conscious of what he did but I didn't mind.

"Are you awake?" I asked.
"Eh." He replied, showing that he wasn't completely awake.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Why'd Miu say you didn't need to be sad about me marrying someone else?"
"Huh?"
"Miu, she said to you before I could came out that you didn't need to be sad about me marrying someone else. What'd she mean by that?"
"Miu really is a mystery isn't she detective."
"Come on you're half asleep, can you 'accidentally' tell me the truth for once?"

Kokichi looked up at me and said with a straight face, "you may have changed over the years but I haven't, I'm a lair and I always will be. That's just another reason you shouldn't want me to go on some life journey with you. I'm a lair and that's not going to change."
"Kokichi..."
"You used my first name? How odd." He put his head back down onto the bed and snuggled up closer to me. He's giving such mixed signals, he really hasn't changed. But I have, I work better with him now. I can tolerate his lies, I should say.

"Why'd Miu say that Kokichi."
"She knows what you don't, the thing I'm leaving up for you to discover mr detective."
"Why can't you just tell me? You don't seem to be overly freaking out, it can't be that serious."
"Oh it's serious Shumai, having a crush on a married man kind- I've said too much."
"Huh?" I don't get it? Having a crush on a married man? How many people does Kokichi know that are married?
"I'll ask again later." I said as I closed my eyes and fell back to sleep slowly.

"Shuichi? Wake upppp! Wake up sleepyhead! It already noon." I opened my eyes to see Kokichi over me trying to wake me up. This was a familiar sight.
"Where am I?"
"Hell! And you're Shuichi Saihara! Now come on let's go!" Kokichi pulled on the collar of my shirt and sat me up right. "If I'm going along with whatever you seem to want then you have to wake up before noon!"
"But sleepppp, I'm a night time person-"
"You went to bed at like 10:00 last night-"
"Shush!" I put my index finger over his mouth to stop him from talking. He started blushing pretty bad but it went away quickly. I'm so confused, it must just be because he likes men.

"Anyway, come on come on come on!"
"Tickets don't even go on sale till 3:00 it's..." I looked down to my watch. "11:56, hey you lied, you said it was noon."
"It's basically noon-"
"It's not noon yet!"
"Fine, it's not noon, I lied, boo hoo, now get up. Unless you want to be stuck in a fancy wedding suit all trip that you probably only rented and can't afforded to spill anything on."
"Fine."

Kokichi got me out of bed and dragged me to clock out of the motel. I guess this was the start of our adventure. No going back now. This is kind of exciting, I've never done anything like this before.
