Chapter 6: were not dating

Kokichi's POV

When Miu came earlier today she dropped off my suitcase. I have to admit it was kinda sad to see her leave. For six years now me and her have always been together. This was the first time since the game that we weren't sleeping in the same place without a set date of when we'd be back together. I had some cool clothes packed in my suit case though, Miu packed my bag. I had on a red and teal Hawaiian button up shirt and some black ripped jeans. Going for an edgy look I guess.

Shuichi took forever to get out of bed. Not sure why, he didn't need to get dressed or anything and he doesn't ever do much with his hair. Not like he had any luggage with him either. He seemed tired, not regretful, just tired. I assumed he would look at least somewhat regretful as he did just run away from his own wedding. Guess he really didn't want to get married after all.

I stood behind Shuichi as he tiredly clocked out of the motel. This is it, we have to go somewhere else now. I guess we could technically go home but that's not adventurous! I didn't leave Miu behind for nothing! Shuichi talked about the cruise trip I saw on the TV last night. I'm super excited, I've always wanted to go on a cruise and I even thought to myself last night while watching the tv that I wanted to go on the trip. I can't believe it was really happening, especially with Shuichi.

Along with the suit case Miu had brought was my phone charger, wallet, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush, all the essentials I had brought along for the wedding. Which ultimately meant that I didn't have to let Shuichi pay for me. This pleases me. I feel like me being here in itself is a burden to him, I don't need him having to spend money on me.

"Well the loading dock is a little far from here, so I guess get ready for a long car ride again." Shuichi said as we got into his car.
"Ok! I like long car rides, lots of time to get to know each other all over again!" I replied.
"I thought we did that last night."
"Well yes but there's still more to know about you Shumai!"
"Shumai?" He questioned.
"Yeah! Shumai. I think it just fits." I smiled at him widely.

I pulled out my phone and looked for an aux chord. Eventually I found one and pulled up one of my favorite playlists. I know I had plans of asking Shuichi questions but I couldn't think of anything. I drifted away into thought as the music played.

I wonder what this is. Are we still just two old high school acquaintances? Was this trip going to change things? Earlier, he made it seem like he actually wanted me to travel the world with him, did he have plans of doing more than this one trip? Where were we even going? We saw the words "cruise trip" and immediately jumped at the chance, we didn't even look into it. Was I bothering Shuichi by being here or did he enjoy the company? Do you think he knows I like him? I glanced at him and looked away quickly. No way he knows that, he's far too dumb. Right?

"Since were early for ticket sales, I'm taking a small detour that's on the way." Shuichi stated.
"Okkk." I stretched out my arms and legs and came back to reality. Shuichi pulled into a super fancy neighborhood. He looked like he knew where he was going when he made his way through the twisty-turny streets.

"Have you been here before?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, I've lived here for around 4 years now."
"Lived here? Is this your neighborhood?"
"Yeah, I figured if you have clothes I can stop by and get some of mine on the way." Shuichi pulled into the driveway of what I swear was the biggest house I've ever seen. The driveway looked to be miles away from the street. You could even see a pool in his backyard! He must really make money.

"I'll be right back." Shuichi got out of the car and ran inside the house. I sunk down into the seat, what if his girlfriend was back home? I don't want her seeing me. I'm sure Shuichi will be getting enough shit for leaving her at all let alone leaving with someone else. He didn't even have plans of coming back anytime soon.

Eventually Shuichi came back out. He changed clothes and brought a suit case with him. He had on a black turtleneck and a pair of white skinny jeans matched with white vans. Typical Shuichi, maybe some things haven't changed. It's the middle of July and this man is wearing a black long sleeved turtleneck.

"Sorry if I took too long, I wanted to make sure I had anything I might need." He apologized as he started his car back up.
"You're fine! You have a really nice house." I said almost getting out of my seat to look in front of me, trying to take it all in.
"Thanks, are you hungry? We can stop somewhere on the way." Shuichi offered.
"I could go for some food. What are you feeling?"
"Hmm, something quick."

Shuichi pulled through a drive through and we headed out to the cruises' dock. Upon getting there we could see there wasn't too many cars there. Some people were waiting in line however. Most of them looked like old people. This could be fun. Shuichi and I got out to go wait in line and some of the other people started talking to us.

"Awe it's nice to see a young couple here." An old lady looked at us.
"Oh we're not date-" Shuichi was cut off by the old man with the women.
"We only ever see other older people on these trips."
I started to laugh a bit but Shuichi didn't look very amused.
"A- as I was trying to say. Me and him aren't dating." Shuichi reassured the older couple.

"Just two friends then? Me and my husband started out that way too." The lady stated.
"I don't get it aren't old people supposed to be homophobic? Shouldn't you be trying to make sure we aren't dating?" I questioned before Shuichi elbowed me, "Kokichi that's rude."
"Some of us are ok, don't talk to those two though," the old man pointed to another couple in front of us, "they're very opinionated, in the worst way."
"Some of our grandchildren are gay, it's our job to be accepting." The lady added.
"Ok... Nice to meet you! I'm Shuichi." Shuichi held out his hand for a handshake.
"I'm Kokichi!" I followed.
"Nice to meet you both as well, I'm Makoto and this is my wife Kyoko."

Makoto and Kyoko? That sounds oddly familiar. But these two looked to be in their late sixties or early seventies.

"This your first time going on a cruise?" Kyoko questioned.
"Yeah, you two sound like you do this a lot." I answered.
"We do, there's not a lot to do around here and we like the calm waters." Makoto replied.
"Kokichi and I were trying to do something fun too, this was a spur of the moment kind of idea." Shuichi added.
"That's fun too! I'm sure you two will love it." Kyoko smiled.

We had reached the front of the line and purchased our tickets. I never thought tickets for a cruise like this would be so cheap. I hope Shuichi and I will get to see Makoto and Kyoko again, there were nice. Shuichi and I stepped onto the ship and made our way to our room. The boat swayed in the water but it was relatively easy to get used to.

The room was sort of small but had one large bed and a couch. There was also a small bathroom with a stand up shower and a large dresser next to the couch. A small fridge was next to the entrance to the room next to a nightstand. On the other side of the bed there was a small table next to a round window that showed the ocean. Immediately I ran to the window and looked outside.

"Shuichi it looks like I can see everything!"
"The waters pretty deep, I don't think you can see everything." He laughed, "looks like there's only one bed again."
"We can share if you want to." I looked up to him. The butterflies came back for another visit.
"Sounds good to me." He smiled.

Who would have thought we'd be here right now. On a cruise trip, we even already made a friend! This was going to be a trip alright. Hopefully it all will end well.
