Chapter 7: family-zoned

Kokichi's POV

After putting all our stuff down in our room we decided to go exploring around the ship. As soon as we stepped out of our room we noticed the room next to us was open. Shuichi didn't want to nosy, unlike me, but we walked past to see if we could see anyone in there. It looked like Kyoko and Makoto were in there. Guess we're next to them. That's cool, the two people we actually talked to outside in the line are the two people our room is next to. Maybe we could hangout with them more before the trip is over. They were fun to talk to.

I wanted to explore the top of the ship to see if we could see any more people. Everyone looked old when we were in line and most of my clothes are rainbows and ripped jeans, two things most old people would love to make fun of.

As Shuichi and I made our way to the top of the ship we noticed that most of the ships guests were in fact mostly old people. I guess it won't be that bad. Maybe it'll be fun. There were some games on the ships top level and oddly enough some pools. There was a giant fancy outdoor TV type thing too.

The ship was going to make stops everyday that let us get out and explore different lands and areas. I'm super excited. It kinda feels like multiple trips in one.

I couldn't get the idea of having a "titanic" moment out of my head. I don't mean that as hitting an iceberg and sinking though, I mean when Rose stood at the front of the ship and Jack held her from behind. I want that. So I ran to the front of the ship. We were still at the dock but it was cool being above everyone still in line nonetheless.

"You run too fast Kokichi." Shuichi huffed as he caught up to me.
"Nah, you're just slow Shumai." I smiled.
"Do you like feeling tall? Seeing everyone from above like this." He asked while resting his arm on my shoulder.
"Hey, I may be short but I'm feisty." I chomped on air in his direction.
"Woah, that scared me, I just got the chills. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight."
"Ha ha, yes I get it I'm not scary-"
"Like I'm shaking right now, I'm terrified."
"You gonna run in terror? Be careful I might catch up to you." I joked.

Shuichi laughed and pat my head.
"Quit it! I'm not your little brother or something!" I pouted.
"No, then you'd be family-zoned. And family-zoned is never fun."
"Family-zoned?"
"Like friend-zoned but family-zoned. There's certain things you can only do around a friend and not family. You wouldn't want to lose those privileges Kokichi."
"Ah I see. So instead of being family-zoned I'm stuck in the friend- I'm not gonna finish that sentence." I stopped myself.
"Huh? Do you not want me to consider you a friend?"

I propped my elbow up on the railing of the ship and rested my hand on it. The sun looked oddly pretty for being before sunset. I didn't plan on answering Shuichi's question but he was oddly push.

"What'd you mean by that? Would you rather I consider you something else?" Shuichi asked again.
"Just forget I said anything. If you really want the answer, figure it out yourself. I have to leave something up for mystery mr. detective."
"Do you... never mind that's stupid." Shuichi started.

"No, what were you going to say?"
"Why don't you figure it out mr 'always making me figure things out'."
"That didn't work very well Shumai. You should at least try to make a good comeback."
"Sorry, I'm not too good at teasing."
"You're learn!" I booped his nose, "anyway what were you saying?"

"You have to figure it out Kokichi! Unless of course you want to tell me what you were going to say."
"Hmm, tempting but I don't think I'll take your offer detective." I crossed my arms.

"Oh look who it is." A purple haired lady walked up to us.
"I take it we'll be seeing you two a lot." Makoto laughed.
"I guess." I laughed.
"Hope that doesn't ruin your romantic trip." Makoto commented.
"We're not dating-" Shuichi started.
"How do you guys like the ship?" Kyoko asked, interrupting Shuichi.
