Chu: I'm outside, come down
Jennie's face lit up. Jisoo is back. She didn't care that Jisoo most likely came with bad results. She was just happy she wasn't going to be alone today. Not only was it Christmas but she was still shaken up about what happened with Taeyong and aside from Kuma she had no one to hug right now.
"Woah, someone missed me?" Jisoo chuckled when Jennie threw herself at her.
"Don't leave okay? Be with me during Christmas." Jennie pouted, burrowing her head in Jisoo's shoulder.
"I don't think I will be." Jisoo responded, making Jennie's face fall.
"You won't..?" Jennie sighed saddened. Of course Jisoo already had plans.
"No."
The rejection kicked Jennie's gut and made her want to tear up.
"Oh... O-Okay." Jennie swallowed, tearing herself away from the raven and lowering her head. "Sorry to hold you off." She already turned around when Jisoo grabbed her tiny hand.
"Where are you going? Your parents are waiting!"
"Waiting for what?" Jennie raised a brow.
"For you." Jisoo smiled.
Jennie couldn't really believe her but it was Jisoo and she trusts her. So she did enter the car that Butler Song was driving and drove to the mansion.
"You are not pranking me right Chu?"
"Never." Jisoo shook her head, squeezing Jennie's hand.
Arriving in Jennie's house has never felt quite as festive as this time.
The spicy scent of cinnamon engulfed her nostrils and her eyes flickered to the trays full of pastries, cups of milk next to it on the round glass table.
The Christmas tree stood in their living room with its green branches spread wide, it was decorated with silver and red sparkly balls as a bright electric star was on top. Blue ropes were twisted around it and on the ground were presents wrapped in pink foil. Colorful lights hung everywhere and made her stare speechlessly.
To top it all her parents wore ugly Christmas sweaters and waited by the tree with expectant looks aimed towards her. They were looking at Jennie.
"Merry Christmas--"
Before her dad could finish his sentence, Jennie dashed towards them and hugged them tightly. A few tears spilled from her eyes as her small body was squeezed by them.
JS.
That day Jisoo learned that Jennie's parents really do love her, they were just socially awkward. Even through their cold demeanor she saw their nervousness whenever they would try to bond with Jennie.
It seems like they thought Jennie was happy with the way things were because she never complained. Not once. That's why they never tried to change anything either. But with Jisoo spelling it out for them, that they were wrong, they were ready to adjust. After all they were people who didn't need many words to feel loved or be comfortable but if Jennie is the opposite they will do their best to make her happy.
Jisoo stayed in the back with Butler Song and watched Jennie with a smile. When it got late they were driven back to the dorm.
"About Taeyong--"
"My parents said they were contacted by the police and we don't have to get involved anymore. They will handle it. The pictures in his room were enough proof to believe our case."
Jisoo sighed relieved. "Did they take it well?"
"I have never seen them this angry." Jennie grimaced. "I might not be allowed to go out without them sending someone to spy me anymore."
"Tell them, I can be your bodyguard." Jisoo joked, walking Jennie to her door.
"I want you to be something else." Jennie chuckled.
Jisoo halted as they arrived at her door. "And what would that be?" She asked with a grin but underneath her confident smile, she was kind of nervous. Could it be that Jennie likes her?
Jennie took something out of her handbag and handed it to Jisoo. Then she left a kiss on her cheek and ran to room, closing the door.
Jisoo was dazed. Another kiss.
Her eyes darted to the wrapped box in her hands. A box... There is no way it's a ring right? Jisoo shook her head. No way.
She unwrapped the present, a bright smile immediately finding its way to her lips. "Massage oil?"
"Since your neck always cracks when I'm in your body." Jennie mumbled from the other side of the door. "And your muscles are always sore. I don't know what sports you are doing but I thought--"
"Thanks. That is very thoughtful." Jisoo cut her off with a few giggles.
"I can massage you if you want." Jennie added.
Jisoo's laugh subsided. Warmth pooled in her chest. "Thanks..." She felt nervous but giddy just thinking about it. "I also got something for you." She slipped something thin under the door.
She heard a few steps and fumbling on the other side before Jennie spoke softly.
"When did you even?"
Jisoo took a picture of Jennie smiling with her parents and went to an acquaintance of Butler Song to develop the photo and frame it.
"You were so happy with your parents you didn't notice I left shortly." Jisoo informed her.
"I'm sorry--"
"No, I was happy to see you happy." Jisoo interrupted. "Do you like it?"
"I love it."
The door clicked.
Jisoo eyed Jennie suspiciously as she stepped forward. She only blinked and felt pressure on her lips. Her lips were the softest thing she ever touched. The feeling was fleeting but she made sure to carve it in her heart.
Before she could even respond Jennie already hid behind the door once more. She heard her speak up quietly.
"And that's how much I like you."
