"Alright, since the school fundraiser is coming up, we need something that will attract people to want to come to donate money to our class, any ideas?" Our teacher asked. "Let's do a haunted house!" Someone yelled. I jumped in my seat and looked around to see how fast everyone got excited. "Yes! And we can dress up as zombies, aliens, or even ghosts!" Someone else in our class added. My eyes widened at what they were saying, and I looked over to Kiku who did not care much about what was happening.

"Alright then! We have a month until then, so we need to put people in charge of things. Costumes, design, admissions, anything else?" our teacher added.
"We can divide the class up into groups if you all would like?" my teacher added. I began to feel defeated and just let everyone talk about it. I did not want them to get mad that I wasn't interested in the idea. "Alfred, are you okay?" Kiku asked. I looked at him, and he looked at me with a straight face. I slowly shook my head, and he snickered.

"I volunteer to be admissions and ticket sales!" I said. The teacher looked at me with a raised eyebrow and nodded. That way, I won't have to deal with all the scary stuff. "Okay, Alfred's group will do that," The teacher spoke. I sat back down and looked at Kiku, who laughed slightly. "You are so lame," he laughed. My eyes widened at what he said, and he stood up. "I will also do admissions with Alfred," he spoke.

My jaw dropped, and my face began to turn hot. "Why did you do that? Wouldn't you be better off with costumes?" I asked. "Yeah... but I am sure it won't be as much fun if you are not there," he whispered. For some reason, my heart began to beat faster, and I had never wanted to hug so much before.

"Do you want to come over to my house today?" I asked. He turned his head toward me slowly and nodded. "Sure, we can do our homework together," he answered. I wonder if I should just tell him how I feel. Maybe he won't be so harsh in the rejection. Then again, it could damage our friendship, and I won't be able to talk to him the same way ever again. He could hate me or even ignore me.

"What is the occasion, though?" He asked confused. "Nothing, I just thought that maybe we could chat for a bit," I explained. Chat.... no! Today I was going to tell him how I felt. I will do it lightly and slowly, and I don't care if he rejects me! I just want him to understand how I feel.

"We can walk home together, and you can eat dinner at my house if you want to," I explained. "Yeah, that sounds good. I am sure my brother won't mind that I will be out late tonight," he smiled.

That evening, Kiku and I walked home together. The sun was setting, and it was kind of a chilly night. The wind was blowing like crazy and we both forgot our sweaters. "Let's hurry so we don't freeze to death," I laughed. My house was not far from the school. Mattie had practice today, and I think the only person home was my papa. My dad and papa loved Kiku, so I know it would not be a problem to have him over.

Once we got to my house, we quickly rushed inside. "Let's go! It's freezing," I laughed. I promptly took him to my room, and we both threw our things to the floor. "Here, take this!" I said seriously. I handed him one of my sweaters, and he quickly wrapped it around himself. "Thank you," he smiled.

I sat down by my desk and breathed out slowly. We were finally alone, and I wanted to wait a little bit to tell him how I felt. "Oh, I forgot to take my shoes off! How rude of me! It was so cold that it left my mind," he frantically got up and removed his shoes. "Don't worry, just leave them by my door," I smiled.

"We can get started on our work. Do you want to sit on the floor or the bed?" I asked. I had a small table on the floor, so I knew he would pick that choice either way. I turned around to shuffle through my desk drawers, trying to find pencils, pens, and paper. "Alfred, do you have any more of those colorful bandaids with the animals on them? I ran out of the ones you gave me," Kiku spoke. I was still going through my things and nodded. "They are in my top dresser drawer. It is a mess so just shuffle things around," I explained.

I heard him walk over, and I continued to find pens and pencils. That is when I remembered what I had in that drawer. "Wait! I forgot-..." I was cut off. I looked to Kiku, who looked into my dresser drawer, shocked. "Hey... it's not what it looks!" I shouted. I quickly stood up and closed the drawer. "Alfred... I did not know that... you....?" He tried to say.

"No! It's not what it looks like! I-.... it was..... my dads they gave them to me," I tried to say. "You are having.... sex?" He said, horrified. "Who is she?" He asked. Oh no.... he thinks I like girls... oh no! I was going to tell him how I felt. "No!! It's not like that. My dads, they gave them to me the other day. See! They aren't open," I tried to explain. This was a nightmare. He did not believe me for some reason, and I tried to explain everything to him. Kiku just looked horrified and shocked at the thought that I was probably having sex. This is a disaster......
