Chapter 6

HollyWeird: #BrennonLake files a lawsuit against #TequilaTara who publicly apologises to him. Sources have stated that Brennon is pissed and is not planning to drop the lawsuit. Tara followed up by stating that she was coerced into leaking the sex tape by somebody close to Brennon.

Tara assumed that I would let her get away with leaking the sex tape but no, I filed a lawsuit against her. She tried reaching out to me on multiple platforms to get me to drop the lawsuit but she needs to learn that I'm not the one to mess with.

My junk is out there for the whole world to see and I'm not ok with that. I've had some sickos show my daughter the images while she was at school and so I'm now having to deal with her school on top of everything else. 

I won't say that the tape has ruined my life but it's one more thing added to my list of shitty things that I didn't need. 

"Shit man." My brother, Brady pulls a face as I lean against the door frame to his living room. "How are you dealing with all of this?"

"I'm not." I sigh as I look out the double french doors where my daughter is playing with Brady's wife in the backyard. "Lia is pushing even harder for full custody and for the first time, I'm fucking scared man."

"You've got this, Brennon." Brady squeezes my shoulder. "You have to keep your head high and try to stay out of the tabloids."

"It's fucking hard." I curse. "I feel as if everybody is against me."

Silence falls between us for a moment and a wave of sadness hits me as I really reflect on my life.

"I'm reaching my breaking point." My voice cracks and I clench my fist as I stare out into the backyard. 

"Brennon." Brady pulls me in for a hug and even though I'm the older brother, it feels good to have my younger brother here.

Keeping all of this in is tough and knowing that I'm fighting to even have my son in my life is breaking me. I don't consider myself to be a bad guy but the world is treating me as if I am one and I don't know how much longer I can last.

After I spent time with my brother, I left Lily there as I flew to New York for an interview. I could have brought Lily along since she loves this place but I'm mentally not in a good place and I don't want her to see that dark side of me.

"Welcome to the stage, Brennon Lake." Naturally, all the ladies start screaming once my name is announced and I'm taking in all the attention as I walk on stage.

A few women catch my eye and I find my eyes straying to them for the first half of the interview. 

"What's one of the weirdest thing that someone has told you?" Jimmy Kimmel asks I redirect my attention to him.

"Recently I had someone tell me that I dress my daughter, Lily like a grandma and I gave them this look." I pull a face which has everybody laughing. "People forget that Lily is only thirteen years old, what I do is help her dress appropriately for her age."

Everybody claps.

"For the last five years, I have had my daughter live with me on a full time basis. Raising a daughter is challenging and it has definitely been a challenge."

Jimmy nods his head, "I can only imagine especially since she is a teenager."

"Right and I have had to learn to be there without being in her face." I hear a woman let out a yeah which makes me laugh. "I am at a place where I can control what she does and I do take advantage of that, it's nothing personal. Parents these days are so obsessed with trying to be their child's bestfriend that they let them do whatever they like."

A few people clap.

"What isn't Lily allowed to wear or do?" Jimmy asks and I laugh for a second. "Does she even have a phone?"

"Lily has a phone but at a certain time, I trust her not to use it." I hear a few more claps as I continue. "She does not wear crop tops, mini skirts or anything too tight or revealing. She is only thirteen and the world is a fucked up place so there are specific items that she cannot wear. When she gets older, the choice is hers but for now..."

Jimmy nods understandingly, "I agree with you."

 "I've only started letting her wear makeup but only for special occasions and from time to time, she can have extensions in her hair." I clear my throat. "This time is so vital as we really get to shape our children and once we let them do whatever they want, we lose them to the world."

Everyone claps and I clap alongside them.

"I don't want my daughter being like the women that I have hooked up with. I want my daughter to respect herself and know that beauty starts from within. Outward appearance comes and goes but that heart will keep on beating until the very end."

After my little speech, Jimmy cuts to the break and he just applauds me on being a single dad. Lord knows that the job isn't easy and I know that people will probably judge me but I'm doing my best.

"And we're back with Brennon Lake who has been trending for all the wrong reason." I pull a face at the camera and Jimmy laughs. "You've given me permission to ask about the leak."

"Yeah." I nod my head.

"How are you dealing with it all?" Jimmy asks as I rub my lips together. "How has it affected you?"

"I think there is a lot of stigma that comes from even recording one, let alone it being released. After it came out, I had a lot of people reach out to me trying to proposition me." I roll my eyes and Jimmy shakes his head. "I had people tell me not to be offended because I'm a man, I should be happy but that's wrong."

"It is."

"If I leaked a tape then everybody would be on my case but since a woman did it, a pornstar at that, people barely bat an eye to that." I scoff. "I have children and my daughter was actually exposed to that. Some assholes forced her to see a clip of it and I've had my reporters following her around."

People in the audience gasp.

"That's disgusting." Jimmy looks at me in shock. "I can't believe that people would stoop that low."

"It's been a lot." I rub the side of my neck. "I thankfully have a good support and legal team. We can try get it removed from the web but unfortunately the damage is done and I'm sure people have downloaded it."

"I'm sorry that this has happened to you."

I shrug my shoulders, "It happens to the best of us, I guess."
