"These are really good." I gesture to the pancakes that I have been demolishing for the last minute or so. It's nearing 9 am and the entire Lake family is outside having breakfast.

Most of us woke up around 6 to go on a family walk which lasted longer than expected since we decided to play tag. A few of the children got lost and it turned into a whole mission but everybody is back in one piece.

Preparing food for forty one people is not an easy thing to do so I salute my mother and the crew of women that she worked with to make sure that we all had something to eat. I personally would have just ordered food but my mom just likes to do things herself.

"You chose the perfect location, Brennon." My mom smiles at me as I finish off my plate. "We have the perfect view of the water and that sunrise was to die for."

"I'm glad that you like it." I pat her back as she pulls me in for a hug.

Lily leaves her cousins behind to come sit by me.

"I love it here." She tells me and I smile at her.

"That makes me happy." I tell her as I run my hand through her hair. My only wish would have been to have had my son, Beau here with us.

"Shanina is fitting in really well with the ladies." My mom says as she takes a sip of her coffee. "She's a really lovely woman, better than that bitch you married."

Lily gasps.

"MOM!" I give her a look. "Don't curse around my daughter."

"I'm sorry." My mom wraps her arms around Lily, "But you know that she was a witch."

Lily smirks, "I know

Lily smirks, "I know."

I let my mother and daughter talk to eachother as my sights fall to Shanina who is laughing at something that Brady is saying.

"She's a good one." I hear my father say as he sits down besides me. "She has outlasted everyone that you have ever brought around the Lake bunch and it hasn't been that many."

"I know

"I know."

My father pats my back and I turn to look at him.

"With the divorce going on, this whole getting into a relationship may not be the best thing." He tells me and I nod my head. "Just don't go breaking her heart."

"I never do."

"You're not known for caring much about people's feeling." My father clears his throat. "I try to give you the benefit of the doubt because you are my son but I have seen the way you treat people who you aren't friendly with. My only advice is to be more considerate because karma is a bitch."

"Is this about Lia?" I raise a brow at him. "You think that all of this shit is happening because of my asshole tendencies."

"Language." My mom swats me and I glare at her. "You had a go at me for swearing infront of Lils and look at you now."

My father waves her off before turning back to me, "What you put out into the world gets projected back. You may have been admirable to marry Lia for your son but you weren't particularly the nicest person. I saw the way you both fought and it hurt to see that other side of you. All I'm saying is that what goes around come back around."

We just got done swimming in the lake and I'm now taking the hot shower that I have been desiring for hours. After our hike, I didn't to shower so I'm doing that now and then I'm going back into the water but on the boat.

"Hey you." I turn back to see Shanina standing behind me in the nude.

"I didn't even hear you."

"I know." She smirks at me as she takes a step forward and our chests brush against eachother. "This is the only time that you are alone and I wanted to capitalize off this moment."

"What are you going to do?" I lean back against the wall as my eyes rake her body. Shanina does not have the biggest assets but everything that she does have is in tip top shape.

I like a woman who takes care of herself.

Time doesn't seem to stop as our bodies collide and my body feels so much better as I step out of the shower with a towel wrapped around my waist.

"Damn, it's almost been an hour." I laugh as I look at the time on my phone.

Shanina doesn't say anything as she steps out after me with a towel around her chest and head.

"I thought we were going to be in there for ten minutes." She laughs and I find myself laughing with her.

"Well, you know what's it like when it's just you and me." I grab her hand and pull her body close to mine.

"How do you feel?" Shanina softly asks as she looks into my eyes. "You always leave me feeling conflicted because I don't know if I mean much to you."

"You mean the world to me." I give her a tender kiss. "You're part of my top five favorite women."

"I love you." Her words surprise me so much so that all I can do is kiss her passionately. There are no words that I can possibly say in the moment because one thing that I'm not is a liar. Love is something that I do not intend to play around with for a while, not after the whole Lia situation.

"Alright." I pull away from Shanina. "We have to go sailing."
