Attending a fashion show with Grace and Lily was not the way that I planned to spend my Thursday evening. When Grace mentioned having tickets to the show, I was hoping that it would be a bonding moment for her and our daughter.

I should not be here.

"Brennon Lake." I hear somebody say and the photographers turn to face me.

Next thing I know, they are taking pictures of us and I know that everybody is going to have questions later on. Grace was known for being a playboy model in the early 2000s but she hasn't been in the spotlight for a very long time.

I have never shared any information on who Lily's mother may be. Grace and I agreed early on to not speak about what we had so I have never mentioned her to anybody outside of my circle.

"We look like a family." Grace says after the photographers have moved on.

"Yeah but we're not." I don't want Grace getting any ideas or putting ideas into Lily's head. "Lils is my family and you are hers."

"Don't be an ass

"Don't be an ass." Grace narrows her eyes me and I roll mine.

"Then don't be delusional." I hiss as my daughter places her hand over mine.

"Let's not fight, we're here to watch the show."

"Alright sweetpea." I give Lily's head a kiss before turning to face the runway. "You better be thankful that I upgraded the seats to the front row because it was not cheap."

Grace scowls at me while Lily beams.

"Thanks dad." And that is why I do what I do.

Two hours go by in the slowest fashion and once we have dropped Grace off at her rental home, I begin the hour long drive home with a happy Lily.

After a few moments of silence, I look over at my daughter who is looking at the pictures that she took.

"Do you want a family?"
