Nia's four poster bed was in a different dorm room, away from Pansy. There was no doubt Pansy would make her life a living hell if they lived in the same dorm, so she thanked whoever made this years room arrangements. Nia had found herself in a dormitory with two other fifth year Slytherins, one named Lilia and the other Rowan. They welcomed Nia to their dorm, but Nia believed they'd find out sooner or later she was a halfblood so for the time being she simply returned the gesture by saying her name. That was nine hours ago.

With her Slytherin uniform on, wand in the pocket of her robes, and her textbooks in the same brown satchel she's used since her first year at Illvermorny, Nia lazily descended down the steps of the Slytherin girl's dormitories. Looking around the common room she found many lowerclassman engrossed in conversation and wizards chess. Some stared as she walked by, either in astonishment or spite.

She only knew the way to the Great Hall because she followed a group of second years to the destination, not because she remembered from last night. She was too busy arguing with Malfoy to even memorize where she was headed. Nia took a seat far away from others at the Slytherin table with her back facing the wall for some sense of quietness. She didn't seem to notice Theo Nott staring at her when she passed him and she didn't notice him staring at her from afar either, frowning. Theo was intrigued by the American but she was in her own secluded world as she fished for the book about Hogwarts in her bag. Theo was curious to know what she was reading. It must be interesting, considering she opened the book to a page in the middle of it.

Nia's left hand grasped a butter knife firmly and the other picked up a piece of toast from the stacked plate. A dollop of strawberry jam fell on the piece of toast and she began to spread it with the knife. Taking a bite from the toast made Nia's stomach grumble, remembering she didn't necessarily eat anything last night. Her brown eyes lifted from the half eaten bread to find a porcelain white teapot with steam coming from the hole. Nia happily poured the steaming hot tea into her goblet, relieved that there wasn't just pumpkin juice at Hogwarts. She set the teapot down on the wooden table and reached for a golden spoon, dipping it into a small bowl with sugar before effortlessly directing the spoon to her goblet. What came next shocked the students around her, some telling their friends to shut up and look!

Nia's index finger gracefully hovered over her goblet in clockwise circles, the golden spoon following her motions. It was so effortless, the fifth year could even divide her attention to starting the damn chapter about the stairs whilst her finger goes in a roundabout over the spoon mixing the sugar into her tea. She could do wandless magic, and she was bloody good at it.

Her ears didn't even notice the gasps and the silence of the students that came with it. In fact, Nia appreciated the newfound silence without looking up from the book she borrowed from Flourish and Blotts. Note to self: remember to owl this back to the book store.
