Nia was in deep conversation with Ron about the four different Hogwarts house as they approached the castle after stepping out of the thestral-pulled carriages. Ron was very biased of his house, and hated one house in particular.

"There's Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin," Ron says the last one with disgust before continuing, "Harry, Hermione, and I are in Gryffindor..."

The ginger boy explained what each house represented and what type of qualities these houses favored. Nia nodded in understanding whenever he looked at her to see if she was listening, which she was. But Nia thought it was kind of strange for the students of Hogwarts to obsess over which house they got into and which ones they didn't. Based on Ron's words, it was clear there is biases at Hogwarts. By the time Ron finished speaking they had arrived at the front steps of the castle. From far away Nia was in awe of how beautiful the castle is, but up close she grew to become intimidated by the size of the castle. "Nia Knight."

Someone was calling Nia's name. Up ahead, the girl's head shot up and found an older looking witch staring back at her with a timid smile. Nia bid Ron and the others goodbye before heading towards the assertive witch. "Hello Ms. Knight, I'm Professor McGonagall, your transfigurations professor. Welcome to Hogwarts. Follow me, I'll be taking you to the Headmaster's office so you can get sorted into your house privately. I imagine you don't want to be sorted with a sea of first years."

Nia nods in agreement but Professor McGonagall can't see her because the woman is already on foot through the castle, Nia following suit. They pass many corridors and many wooden doors until Nia is before a golden statue of a gargoyle. "Sherbert lemon," Professor McGonagall declares before the statue begins to move to grant access to the stairs leading up to the headmaster's office. Nia takes it step by step up the stairs cautiously, remembering the chapter about the stairs of Hogwarts she never had the chance to begin. However, nothing happens. They're just regular stairs.

Why the hell is there a whole chapter on the stairs then?! Nia grumbles in her head.

Once at top the older witch opens the heavy door with the wave of her wand and enters, striding towards a shelf full of magical items. "Come Ms. Knight, we must hurry. Everyone should be waiting in the Great Hall by now."

Nia steps forward, being instructed to sit down as McGonagall states, "time to get you sorted into your house. Remember, your house is like your home while you're here at Hogwarts but since you just made friends with my most mischievous and brave gryffindors I might be seeing you more often."

"Is that bad? I mean, are they bad?" Nia refers to Harry, Hermione, and Ron.

"No, just don't get into trouble with them," Mcgonagall says with a nonchalant attitude before placing the sorting hat on Nia's head of hair.

So this is the infamous sorting hat I read about. You can speak, am I right?

Correct, Nia Knight. Though I've never sorted a Knight before, so this will be fun.
