September 1995The time had come for Nia Knight to aboard the Hogwarts Express at Platform nine and three-quarters in Kings Cross Station.
"Are you sure you packed everything? The books, where are they?! Your wand, do you have it? And don't you dare carry it in your back pocket!"
Mrs. Knight was more than worried to say the least. She was hyperventilating and double checking Nia's luggage like a madwoman in front of other students and their parents while Nia stood watching her mother calmly.
"Mom."
"Your robes! And shoes! Where is it–"
"Mom!" Nia interrupts the woman which causes the woman's head to shoot up, "I have everything, trust me!
A sigh escapes Mrs. Knight's mouth. "Yes, I know you do. I'm overthinking this whole Hogwarts business."
"Just a bit," Nia shrugs her shoulders with a grin on her face. Her head turns to look behind her shoulder and she finds that many more students are stepping into the train. "I have to go now."
The Knight's hug each other tightly as Nia bids a goodbye to her mother before clutching her luggage more tightly as her feet take her towards the train. Once inside, Nia finds herself in a hallway as far as the eye can see. Some Hogwarts students younger than her shuffle around her body with smiles on their faces and their voices ecstatic as they talk about a person named Sir Nicholas.
Well, I guess it's time to find an empty compartment, Nia thinks to herself.
Nia passes many compartments, and all of them are full to the brim. Each one she passes by the people in them seem to stare up at her and drop their conversations, eyeing Nia as if she has two heads.
Nia stops in front of one in particular, finding only three students seated. Three boys were seated together sharing high smirks and voices, one with brown hair and brown eyes, another with dark skin and a large smirk on his face, and the other paling in skin with blond, almost white hair. And they were all dressed as if they were going to a business meeting. Nia couldn't decide if the trio really dressed up to appear posh and superior or everyone at Hogwarts dressed up. Though she couldn't recall anyone in dress pants except these three.
Out of all the compartments she's seen so far, this one seemed to be the only one with space for her to sit. And Nia knew this definitely wasn't a good idea. Couldn't she just stand in the hallway the whole ride instead?
By the time Nia decided to back out, all three boys were staring back at her, waiting for a response. The one with striking blond hair seemed to be shooting daggers at her with his eyes, as if to say, what the fuck do you want?
It would be awkward to shuffle out their compartment without a word. So, the words slipped out of her mouth. "Um–Hi. I was just wondering if I could possibly sit here? Everywhere else is full."
