I do not own Young Justice or anything DC-related.

"Why do I have to go to school again?" I asked as I watched Alfred go back into the kitchen to make Dick's and I's lunch.

It was early, nearly 5 am, but that didn't bother me much because I was used to a wonky sleep schedule from when I was with Deathstroke and watching over Connor when he was with Cadmus.

"It's something that's required by the state, for one, and since I legally claimed you as my own with some help of some lawyers, Gotham is expecting you to go to school.

"Okay, but I already know everything there is about education. The Genomorphs made sure of that," I pointed out as I snacked on a piece of toast Alfred brought out, not touching the pancakes as I wasn't that hungry.

"Which is why you're actually going to Gotham today to take a Grade Placement Test," Bruce said and finally lowered the newspaper he had been reading and leaned over to look me in the eye, "look, I know you don't really want to go to school and meet other people. But it's also something normal children do, so I think it could be really beneficial for you to interact with other kids. Who knows, maybe you'll make a few friends?" Bruce added softly, knowing that this was probably a struggle for me.

I sighed, knowing I couldn't persuade him otherwise, and just nodded. A test wouldn't be hard, plus if I do get everything right maybe I could just skip school and go straight to college and just take online classes for everything, it wouldn't be difficult. Or I'd just use the time to continue being Batman's side-kick during school hours before heading to the liar where I was finally allowed to go on missions with the team.

It had been a few months, mostly because the team wasn't called out very often and the ones they had been called on, I was still training with either Canary or Batman to make sure I was ready to work with a team under Aqualad's command. The only reason it took a while was because it seems I was only used to working with one other person, and not a whole group of people. It's why both Batman and Canary had been training me, getting me used to not just working with one person, but rather more than that.

There had even been a few times Red Tornado had joined us to get me used to another person added, and they finally agreed as a group I could work with others. Apparently, Batman's stubbornness to work alone had rubbed off on me to a degree, but like Batman, I could work with others when the situation called for it.

"Can you at least describe the test to me?" I asked finally as I leaned against the table we were sitting at, Dick seemingly happy with just existing beside me slowly drinking the coffee Alfred reluctantly allowed him to have and nibbling on the pancake in his hand that lacked butter or syrup.

"The questions are going to range from your current age group and will continue to get harder and transition into the next level grade, up to Grade 12. Last I knew, there were roughly fifty questions from each grade that range from topic to topic. It'll take you awhile, and you are allowed breaks if you need them, but you can't have your phone during those breaks and if you want food you just tell them and they'll get whatever you want. At the end of the test, you just submit it and it'll send the results to both the school and myself," Bruce described as he finished his coffee.

"Master Bruce, might I suggest we get ready to head off? It is nearly time for Young Richard to be at school," Alfred informed, having their coats resting on his arm for them to take.

Bruce just nodded and stood up, grabbing the jacket Alfred had held out for him and then for Dick who instantly leapt up after Bruce and grabbed his own jacket and then backpack by the door.
