Melanie's POV

We finally arrived at the airport, ran to get to our gate to meet the boys of the german national team. And there they were, standing in front of the gate, probably waiting for us. I smiled at them and some of them smiled back, because some were distracted looking outside the window. I looked around and was a little scared to see a smiling Erik Durm at my side.
"Hi" I said to him
"Hi, uhm, sorry if I scared you" he held a laugh
"You didn't scare me... I was just surprised to see you here, by my side" I said awkwardly
"Sure... So, are you excited for the trip?" he asked
"Yeah! Very much, to be honest." I'm not sure but I think my eyes glowed for a bit and a said expression consumed my face "I wish Marco was here... I really miss him"
Erik stood there not knowing what to say, but then he finally opened his mouth "we are going to have so much fun that you will stop worrying about him. I'm sure he will be fine"
"Yeah... Maybe you're right" sigh "I have to stop worrying about things... BUT I WON'T STOP WORRYING ABOUT ONE THING" I said a little too loud so Müller and Schweinsteiger stared at me, but I didn't really mind it and continued, but now whispering "my job"
Erik looked at me confused "why your job? You are on vacation"
"I know but if they approve my building I will be the happiest person alive! I will be known internationally" I said happilly
"Wow! That's awesome!" He said excited "I'm so happy for you, Mel" he smiled and hugged me
"Thanks" I smiled back and entered into the airplane. I quickly looked at my ticket "where are you sitting? Mine is here" I said pointing to my seat as he laughed
"Well, my seat is that one" he pointed to the seat next to mine
"It's going to be a long flight" I said to myself
"What?" He asked looking at me. I think hopefully he didn't understand what I said
"nothing" I replied and smiled awkwardly as he smiled back
I have to say the reason why I don't really feel comfortable around Erik, it's because I know that he has a crush on me. He knows that I date Marco, they are team mates, and it doesn't bother him. I really think he won't give up until he turns me into his girlfriend, which I will never be because I'm pretty happy with Marco. Unfortunetely, I don't think he wants to realise it. And that's what makes me uncomfortable, knowing that he wants something else and he will try to get it as hard as he can't. I tried a few times to tell him it's not going to happen but he makes a sad puppy face and I feel so bad that before I finish I just say "nevermind" and leave.

Erik was surprisingly quiet for the most part of the trip, which was really nice because I wanted to have some sleep as I spent the last nights woken up trying to finish the project. I was stressed out for weeks, around this project and this trip I planned to relax and enjoy, even knowing that will be basically impossible due the fact that this wasn't an ordinary vacation.
I was there to support my brother, and my country on the world cup. Marco was supposed to be there but he was injured and couldn't go, but I had already booked and paid my flight and I didn't want to lose money, so with his permission, I'm on my way to Brazil.
I'm sure Marco will make it to at least one day. He's strong and he's recovering well, I think in one week he will be able to walk, not normally but he won't need a crutch anymore.
Erik finally decided to annoy me "are you really happy with Marco?"
"Yes, very much" I said
"But don't you think you would be happier with me?" He looked at me with a puppy face
"Erik... I love Marco with all my heart and-" I was going to finish but I was interrupted
"I know, I know. I was just asking... Maybe one day you will be mine..."
I wanted to end this uncomfortable conversation so slowly I started to put my headphones on and started to fall a sleep

I woke up a few minutes later with my head on Erik's shoulder. I quickly sat up straight on my seat and Erik noticed it. "You could stay in that position if you want" he laughed. "Sorry... I didn't mean to. I was sleeping..." I blushed
"Don't worry, I liked it..." He said
I was going to say something but we had just arrived in Brazil.
