Thorin

"Anything?" I shouted up to Dwalin.

"Nothing." He shouted back. I held the map in front of me.

"If the map is true," I said to Silena. "Then the door lies directly above us."

"And to which way above us exactly?" Silena asked. "North, south, east, west it could be in any direction."

"Over here!" We heard Bilbo shout. He was pointing to a statue that seemed to have staircases along it. We ran over.

"You have keen eyes, master Baggins." I said. As the others continued walking towards the stairs, I turned to Silena.

"That direction," I said. She rolled her eyes and pushed past me.

"Yeah, I realized that." She said walking away from me.

"Sorry," I muttered under my breath. I didn't know what it was, but something was bothering Silena. But then again, if she thought that it was something to worry about, she would have told us.

Silena

After a tiring 30 minutes, we finally reached the top. Thorin held out his hand to help me up. I swatted it away and pulled myself up. Thorin sighed and looked down. I felt bad, but I was fine. I wasn't like the rest of the girls. I was a woodland elf. And I could take care of myself.

"This must be it," Thorin said, turning around and running to the stone walls. "The Hidden Door." The rest of the dwarves finished climbing and turned to Thorin.

"And to those who doubted us," Thorin said. He held up the key. "Rule this day!" Bilbo and the dwarves cheered with victory. I didn't cheer, but I smiled. We weren't close to done yet, but it was one more step closer to reclaiming the dwarves' homeland. And one more step closer to becoming the Rider in Black again. I looked down. Now that I had finally shown my face, I never wanted to cover it up again. But I didn't belong anywhere. I had to. But for now, I would do anything and everything in my power to protect the company.

"Right," Dwalin said and everyone broke apart to look for the door. "We have a key. Which means that somewhere, there is a key hole." He started running his fingers along the wall, trying to find some sort of cut or slit. Thorin turned back towards me and looked at the sun, which was setting.

"The last light of Durin's day," He said.

"Will shine upon the keyhole." I finished. Thorin nodded and turned back towards the dwarves. We continued watching Dwalin and a few others trying to find it. Thorin turned to Nori.

"Nori," He said. Nori nodded and began to help look for the keyhole.

"We're losing the light," I told the dwarves. I was beginning to panic. I looked back and forth at the sun and Dwalin and Nori, who were now banging against the wall to try and find the door.

"Can't find it," Dwalin said as he began to kick and pound harder. "It's not here!" Thorin turned and looked at the sun.

"Break it down!" He shouted. The dwarves grabbed their axes and started hitting the wall as hard as they could.

"C'mon!" Thorin shouted. The dwarves' axes started shattering against the stone.

"It's no good!" I finally shouted. They all stopped and turned to me. "The door's sealed. It can't be opened by force. There's powerful magic on it. I can feel it." As I finished talking, the sun set behind the mountain. We had lost the light. We had failed. Thorin looked at the sky. He walked towards the wall.

"No," Thorin said. He turned back towards us and held out the map. " 'The Last light of Durin's day, will shine upon the keyhole.' That's what it says. What have we missed?" There was a silence among us. Thorin walked up to Balin.

"What have we missed?" He asked. "Balin?"

"We lost the light." He said. "There's no more to be done. We had but one chance. Come on lads, it's over." The dwarves started walking away.

"W-Wait a minute," Bilbo said. "Where are they going? You can't give up now!" I looked at Thorin. He had his back to me. I could see he was holding the key. He dropped it to the ground.

"Thorin," I said standing next to Bilbo. As Thorin walked past me, he pressed the map against my chest and let go of it. "You can't give up now." I stood there next to Bilbo, holding the map against my chest. I closed my eyes and breathed in deeply. No. No, this was not the end. I could feel it. I snapped my eyes open with determination. I was Silena Greenleaf, The Rider in Black. I couldn't give up. I couldn't surrender. It wasn't in my blood. I was going to find the door. I handed the map to Bilbo and walked towards the stone wall.

"'Stand by the Graystone'," I quoted. "When the thrush knocks."

"The setting sun, and the last light of Durin's day," Bilbo continued. "Will shine upon the keyhole."

"The last light," I muttered. "The last light." I looked up at the sky. I saw the clouds pull away from the moon, letting the rays come down on us Then I heard something. A knocking sound. Bilbo and I looked over and saw it. It was a tiny thrush bird, knocking against a small cut in the rock. The rays of the moon came across it. I looked closer at the cut. It was a keyhole. Suddenly everything made sense.

"The last light!" I said happily. "The keyhole!" Bilbo looked at me happily then ran back over to the edge.

"Come back!" He shouted. "Come back!" I was still standing there, amazed to move.

"It's the moon!" I shouted. "The last moon of autumn!" I turned around and looked at the ground. "Where's the key?" I asked. Bilbo came back and started looking around for it.

"It was just.." He said. Then I saw it. Right by Bilbo's foot. But it was too late. When Bilbo moved his foot, he kicked the key. At that moment, I thought it was the end. The key moved towards the edge of the cliff. But a foot stepped on the string, stopping the key from falling of the cliff. It was Thorin.
