"platonic love was something she so desperately craved, and finally, it was handed to her on a silver platter."

a few weeks had passed since hanako's first lunch meeting with kenma and kuroo. since then, they had been eating lunch together every day. strangely to hanako, she began to like their company, and even started speaking to the two of them more freely. still, a certain blonde setter wished she acted the way she did with katsuo with them, even though he knew he was probably asking for too much.

slowly, the saito girl was beginning to like her new school a lot more than she originally anticipated. that was, until one thursday afternoon. "-but that's not fair!" sakurai cried desperately, arguing with the science teacher who was the music club's teacher representative.

sighing, the man rubbed at his eyes, giving the white-haired girl a solemn look. "and like i said, i'm sorry, maki. the music club has only had two consistent members for the past month. you need four to identify as a club, which means we can no longer recognise it as one."

hanako sat silently as she listened, feeling her stomach tense with balled up anxiety. she didn't want this either. she actually liked spending her time accompanying sakurai; music was a common ground that helped her communicate in the easiest form.

"sensei, can't you do something?" her blue eyes were glazed over, tears threatening to spill over. she must really care about this. hanako wished she was more of use to the situation, but she simply could not handle disputing with a person of a higher power. or, anyone in general. she tended to avoid conflict as best as she could, as the very idea of it made her feel ill.

"i'm afraid not. you can still practice in here before school, but this room will be locked after school. all this means is less in-school practice time." he reassured her, leaning against one of the tables as he watched sakurai's frustrated hand movements in concern.

"it also means no club funding, no competitions, no trips, no recognition during club recruitment ceremonies which means no new members and no acknowledgement for our past achievements! it's completely wrong! we can get new members, i promise, i-"

"maki, you've been promising that for weeks." the teacher countered in exasperation, making hanako's head snap up in shock. how long has this been an issue? sakurai shifted uncomfortably, feeling hanako's eyes on her.

knowing she had lost, hopelessness set into sakurai, and hanako could feel the tension in the room. even though there was much bigger problems at hand, she couldn't help but feel slightly comforted by the fact she wasn't the one who caused the uneasy vibe. she was making the best out of a bad situation.

"okay." sakurai whispered, walking out of the room quickly as she grabbed her bag. for a second, hanako wasn't sure what to do; it was as if her feet were rooted to the floor. when she snapped out of it, she stood up, following the swish of white hair that was rapidly disappearing down the corridor. i hate running.
