"i've never seen you so alive."
kuroo and kenma were walking through the mall, the shorter of the two gripping onto his friend's arm as he attempted to evade the crowds. he felt particularly uncomfortable as saturday's were usually busy days.
"why are we doing this?" he muttered, glumly glaring at the concrete as he stepped on a crack in the road. that's bad luck. at this point, avoiding the cracks would be pointless. kenma always believed that he was cursed, so giving into superstitions would only increase his paranoia.
chuckling, kuroo manoeuvred through the swarms of people, almost amused by kenma's complaints, even though he heard them on a daily basis. "you wanted that new game, remember?"
scowling, kenma glanced mourningly at his hoodie pocket, the psp poking out of the corner slightly. he couldn't play his games in a place as busy as this. it was very troublesome. "i could've just ordered it online." he reasoned, still annoyed that he had been dragged outside.
"and i said no because i don't want you collecting dust." kuroo grinned, patting kenma's head before his hand got shoved away.
"but we could've played together. now i'm gonna play alone because i won't have the patience to wait until you get it right." a large, hearty laugh escaped kuroo, and he wiped false tears from his eyes. walking into the game store, kenma's eyes lit up, and kuroo shook his head softly as he watched his best friend shuffle over to the display in the left corner. "cool." he whispered, tracing the cover with his fingers.
smiling, kuroo followed him over, eyes scanning the rows of different merchandise for this new franchise that kenma was silently fanboying over. "didn't you want the game?" he couldn't help but tease the setter as his golden eyes darted between figurines and posters.
"but...now i want everything." he mumbled, brows furrowing as he attempted to decide. sighing, he glanced at kuroo at his side. "we are never coming here again. i don't think i can handle it."
leaning forwards, kuroo lifted a box of what looked to be a women's cosplay outfit. his eyebrows lifted dramatically as he saw the photo of the extremely skimpily dressed woman displayed on the side of the box. "damn, kenma. this doesn't look like a very pg game." smirking, he waved the box before his friend, who didn't seem fazed in the slightest.
"that's princess ayra. she doesn't do anything, so i don't like her." kenma pointed to another costume box. "i think that one's megumi. she's cool." setting down the first box, kuroo picked up the one kenma identified as megumi.
her hair was long and dark, tied into a low ponytail, eyes a bright and piercing sea green. her body was grossly unrealistic, like the majority of anime girls. this is why he'll never get a girlfriend, kuroo thought, a small smile plucking at the corners of his lips as he set down the cosplay.
that's when something dawned on him, and he was quick to take the box back in his hands. "kuroo, i don't think that dress would look as good on you as it does on her." kenma stated, staring at the black haired boy as he gaped at the box.
"holy shit, kenma." he laughed, shoving the box in front of his friend's face as he pointed at the character on the side. "she looks like hanako." blinking, kenma's expression turned completely blank before the heat bubbled up under his epidermis, effectively adding a red hue to his cheeks.
groaning, he covered his face, embarrassment seeping in. "why did you have to say that?" he asked miserably. now the imagine is implanted in my mind. the poor boy's mind trailed to the gameplays he'd watched streams of, becoming flustered when he remembered there was a certain shower scene including his favourite character.
fuck.
"it's just an observation. why are you so flustered by it?" kuroo pressed, lightly elbowing kenma, which resulted in him getting more nervous. "it's not like it is hanako, they just have similar features." he continued, feeling accomplished now that he had successfully weaved the girl into the conversation naturally.
originally, he had planned to mention the team, the upcoming training camp, or maybe even katsuo, but this had given him the perfect opportunity - especially since kenma seemed to like the character. kuroo had been meaning to ask kenma about his feelings towards the girl. sure, they'd only known each other for a couple months, but he noticed how his best friend acted around her.
judging by his reaction to kuroo mentioning her, he was certain the boy harboured some level of romantic feelings towards the kind girl. the captain believed that kenma was purely embarrassed because of his strong emotions for hanako.
little did kuroo know, zero pure thoughts were racing through his friend's mind.
"i-i'm gonna go buy the game now." kenma uncharacteristically stuttered out, trying to rid his mind of the images running through it. stop being horny, stop being horny, stop being horny, stop being horny, stop being h-

sitting at the end of her bed, hanako quickly replied to the messages that maki had sent her. it wasn't anything important - mostly just photos of her dogs (which hanako definitely didn't mind seeing). sighing, she tapped her fingers against the back of her phone. i'm bored.
she thought for a moment, before finally deciding to play the new game everyone had been raving about. it looked a little strange - different to the types of games she usually played, but that was mostly because games with a set storyline tended to give her second hand embarrassment and crippling anxiety that rendered her unable to continue.
still, she wanted to try it so she didn't feel left out when seeing the dozens of memes and videos about it online.
switching on her console, the brunette pulled her blinds closed, preferring the dark atmosphere while she played. it took a while for the game to actually load properly, so hanako plodded down to the kitchen in search of a drink.
when she returned to her room, katsuo was sat on her desk chair. he'd pulled it up next to her bed, looking at the game's cd case. "is this that new game you ordered?" he asked.
nodding, hanako placed her water bottle on the windowsill and settled back onto her bed. "yeah. wanna play it through with me?" both the saito twins knew that hanako had only asked that question out of politeness. katsuo wasn't great at video games, and it unlocked the rare rage in her.
chuckling, he ruffled her hair, earning a pout from his sister. then, the introduction music began, and hanako's attention was solely focused on the television, as it would be for the next ten or so hours until she took a break.
katsuo couldn't help but examine the cd case again. he thought that the princess was hot - ayra or something - but what drew his attention the most was the village girl with the gangly (but still kind of strong-looking) sword.
