PROLOGUE

Prologue

“Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. We have just landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport welcomes you to Manila. In behalf of all our crew, thank you for choosing our company as your airline today. Have a great day.” I announced as I feel the tiredness and exhaustion because of the long straight flight.

We waited for our passengers to leave and quickly picked our baggage as we left after checking that the whole plane is clear. I bid goodbyes to my co-workers as we parted our ways.

I deeply sighed as I saw how the clouds suddenly poured out it's tears, i immediately took a taxi. It took an hour before I reached my condo.

I didn’t waste any second and immediately took a shower. Because of tiredness I didn’t think of dinner and in just a second I’m now facing my blank and long dream.

I woke up when my phone ring and answered it without knowing whose calling.

Napahikab ako habang inilalagay ang telepono sa tainga ko. Ramdam ko pa rin ang pagod at antok dahil sa sobrang bigat ng talukap ng mga mata ko na hindi ko magawang maimulat ito.

“Still sleeping?” someone’s voice from the phone that I already knew who this is.

“Mhmm...” i answered while my eyes are still close.

“Do you know what date today is?” he asked.

“Yeah... Today is the 7th day of the 7th month of the year 2026...”

“Yeah, you’re right.” He said while chuckling.

My eyes automatically opened when I realised the date today. Napabangon ako at kinuha ang tuwalya bago dumiretso sa banyo.

“Kung sinabi mo nalang sana ng diretso, ano?” sarkastiko kong tanong.

“I’m just testing you if you still remember.” he chuckled.

“I still and will always be. Need to hang up, see yah later.” I said before hanging up the phone.

I quickly took a bath and wore a simple white t-shirt with a navy blue jean. I partnered it with white sneakers. Nagayos ako ng kaunti bago kinuha ang sling bag ko and wore my black cap. I don’t want to bring umbrella because it’s a hassle so i just wore a cap because of the sunlight.

I went to the parking lot and drove my car to the mall before going to my real destination. After a few minutes of driving I parked my car and went to department store to buy them some gifts. It’s a quick shopping since it’s now passed 12 in the afternoon and I don’t want to be late.

After I paid for the things I bought, I’m about to leave when I saw the National Book Store. It caught my attention and I don’t know why something is telling me to go in.

So I went in and memories suddenly flashed in my heads. I still can remember how addict I am with the books. Dumiretso ako sa bookshelves, habang naglalakad ay hinahayaan ko ang mga daliri ko na dumausdos sa mga libro. Ngunit napahinto ng matagpuan ang isang libro.

Napangiti ako habang pinagmamasdan ito. May nagtulak sa akin na bilhin ito kahit na may kopya na ako nito sa bahay namin. Nagmadali akong kumilos ng makatanggap ng message sa kanila na bilisan ko.

Napatawa ako sa isip ng maimagine ko sa isipan ko ang mga nakabusangot na mukha nila dahil sa tagal nilang pagiintay. I was about to go to the parking lot when a rain suddenly poured.

It rained heavenly as if the clouds red a tragic story. Instead of thinking on how to find a solution to go to the parking lot, I smiled as the rain poured and the cold wind touched my skin.

We have a reunion today with my beloved classmates in my last year in high school, today is actually the day we first had our conversation with each other. Funny how our friendship started.

As I looked at the book I bought earlier, memories that made my life changed reminisce in my mind.
