Chapter One: Found
Wyn's P.O.V.
Tears ran down my face like rushing rivers. One minute, my life was good. The next, it was painful and miserable. I was only eleven! I was too young to go through this!
Her screams continued to echo through my ears. I knew they'd never stop, so why try to cover them? The burns from the fire were still fresh, causing me to feel pain not only internally, but externally. The fire was just an accident. Accidents shouldn't cause so many casualties.
Wait, there was only one. But that one felt like a thousand.
I sat in an alley and curled up into a ball, still crying like mad. This would change everything. I'd be all alone. Living would be basically impossible. I'd most likely die out here. Unless a miracle came along. Which was highly unlikely.
My name is Wyn Baron. And my mom had just died.

Four days.
It had been four days since my mom accidentally left the oven on. Four days since the flames engulfed her body and she passed away. Four days since I barely escaped through a window and lived. Four days since my misery began.
Hungry continued to claw at my stomach. My body was coated in dirt and cut up. It was hard for me to sleep at night. All I had was a small bag of stuff that I had packed. Before the fire, we had planned on going to New York for a vacation. It was Winter, so I was extremely cold. If anything, this was the definition of homeless and miserable.

Alesa's P.O.V.
"Adam! I'm going to the store!" I shouted as I put my coat on.
"Okay!" Adam shouted back. Last time I'd checked on him, he had just finished up a recording. So it was safe to assume he was editing at the moment.
It had been three months since we had gotten married. We were really happy together. Adam's channel was still doing really good. Most of his fans were really happy for us. Our life couldn't gt much better.
Safeway wasn't too far away. Only six or seven blocks. Plus, I could use the exercise. I decided to walk there.

I began walking home with a few bags of groceries. The streets were less busy than usual. Probably because it was a Sunday. Most people were probably at home, not doing much. I sighed before I continued walking.
Suddenly, I heard soft sobbing. I snapped out of my train of thought and looked around. It sounded really close. I slowly and cautiously followed the sad sound. The crying led me to an alleyway. Sitting near the end of it was a girl.
I examined the girl. She looked about twelve, maybe eleven. She had short pale reddish brownish hair, and dark brown eyes. She was extremely skinny, with pale skin. But you could hardly tell it was pale, since she was covered in dirt. Her clothes looked dirty and raggedy. She didn't even have shoes.
I frowned at the sight. She looked so miserable. What had happened to her? A child didn't deserve to be alone out on the streets!
The girl looked up at me. "Hello." She said.
"Hi." I said. "What are you doing here?"
She frowned. "I-I can't tell."
"Why not?"
"B-Because it's too sad for me to say."
"Then just tell me the gist of it."
She took a deep breath. "M-My mom died, and I have no clue where my dad is. He left when I was three. I hate orphanages, so I'm stuck out here."
"Well, what's your name?"
"W-Wyn. Wyn Baron."
"Nice to meet you, Wyn! I'm Alesa."
She smiled. "That's a pretty name."
"Thanks!"
For a few moments, neither of us said anything. I felt awful for her. I didn't know how it felt, but it must've been awful. I had to do something about it.
"Wyn?"
She snapped out of her train of thought. "What?"
"Come home with me, please. You need somewhere to stay. I can't let you stay out here and starve, or freeze, or both. I can take care of you, along with my husband, Adam."
Wyn's eyes widened. A grin stretched across her face. "R-Really? You'd do that for me?"
"Of course! You seem like a sweet girl. Plus, we could use some company besides our dogs. "
"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!" She shot to her feet and hug me. I put the bags down and hugged her back. She let go, them grabbed a small blue bag.
I smiled. "Ready?" She nodded vigorously. I held her hand, and we walked back to me and Adam's house.
