Chapter Two: Welcomed

Wyn's P.O.V.

I couldn't stop grinning all the way to Alesa's house. I thought I was going to die out on the streets. Nobody seemed to care. But someone finally did, and I was excited. I didn't care if they were low on money or one of them was dying or cancer. I'd finally have a family again.

We finally made it to the house. It was really close to the sea, and pretty big. It looked a bit old, but really nice. Alesa and I went up the steps to the door. I couldn't stop trembling with excitement. My mind was full of questions. What would it be like here? Would they like me after they discovered how much of a tomboy I was?

Alesa opened the door, and I stepped in after her. Their three dogs ran up, and couldn't stop sniffing me. One of the little ones climbed onto my legs, tail wagging. I wasn't sure if I should pet it, since my hands were dirty.

A man in his early twenties came out. His skin was pale like mine. He had curly brown hair, and deep brown eyes. All he was wearing were some pants and a tee shirt. Pretty generic. I assumed this was her husband. Adam, right?

Adam looked at me with concern. "Who's this?" He asked, looking at Alesa.

"Her name's Wyn. I found her on the streets. She said her mom died. Where her dad is, she has no clue. I told her we could take care of her." Alesa said.

He frowned. "You poor thing. How old is she?"

"Eleven." I answered for her.

"We can take care of her." He said. "At least until she finds somewhere."

I smiled. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." He smiled back, then turned to his wife. "Where are the groceries?"

"OH CRAP! I was so distracted, I left them by the alleyway! Be right back!" Alesa said, then bolted out the door. She didn't even close it, so I closed it for her.

Adam looked back at me. "You can stay in the guest room. For now, how about you take a shower? I can find some clothes for you."

I nodded. "That'd be a good idea. Thanks... Adam, right?"

He smiled. "Yeah. Did Alesa tell you about me?"

I nodded. "Well, I'll go get some clothes. The closet next to the bathroom has towels. Grab one and get in. I'll put your clothes by the door." Said Adam.

"Thank you so much."

He laughed.  "You can stop saying that."

"No, I can't. I'm so grateful for this. I thought I was gonna die out there. So thank you."

At first, he didn't speak. Then he nodded. "You're welcome, Wyn. Now go get yourself cleaned up."

I nodded again. The bathroom was easy to find. It was the first door on the left. I grabbed a towel from the closet, then went in. After getting undressed, I got in. It was nice to feel warm water for once. The last time I had felt water at all was when it started raining like mad, and I got soaked in frezzing cold water.

After the shower and drying off, I peaked out of the door. In front of it was a pile of clothes with a note on it. I picked them up, then closed the door. The clothes were some dark skinny jeans, a red tee shirt, and black socks. The note said:

Wyn,
I found the pants in Alesa's old clothes, so they should fit. The shirt is hers, too. It might be a bit big, but it's better than nothing. The socks are hers, but they could be tight. I don't know, though. You can use your undergarments for now. We're ordering pizza for dinner. ;)
-Adam

I smiled, then got changed into the clothes. The socks weren't tight like he had predicted. Although the shirt was big, at least it didn't sage down. I borrowed a brush and pulled it through my knotty brown hair. Once I was done, I went back out.

As soon as I walked out, I smiled. For the first time in the last few days, I felt liked. As if I actually had a chance. Adam and Alesa were nice, too. If only they could be my parents.
