Chapter Four: Nightmare

Wyn's P.O.V.

I slowly woke up, head throbbing. There was a high-pitched ringing sound playing in my ears. It stopped, but my vision was still blurry. I saw a blurry gray floor, with green squiggles on the wall. When my vision cleared, I saw I was in a dungeon of some sort, with vines all over the walls.

I stood up and looked around. It was dusty with a couple of cobwebs. Of course, I was alone, other than the skeleton in the corner. The place creeped me out. Especially since there was no visible exit. I swallowed hard, then took a few steps forward.

The walls was about half a foot away from my face. I lightly touched the vines. They felt damp and smooth. Suddenly, a faint black smoke came out of my hand. The vine I had touched turned back. It began wilted, and black smoke emitted off of it.

My eyes widened. I gasped and stepped back. "No," I whispered to myself.

I turned around, and saw something behind me. It was a tall, black figure with long. sharp fingers. The figure grinned. Instead of teeth, it looked like glue or something stretched from lip to lip. Black smoke was coming off of it.

The strange thing reached forward and grabbed my shoulder. Its pointed fingers lightly dug into my shirt. It hurt, but not enough for me to wince or for it to draw blood. I looked up at it for a few brief moments. It gave me an odd feeling. An odd sensation, and weird emotions.

The creature scared me, but at the same time it didn't. I looked up at it as if it was nothing. Almost as if I had known it my whole life. It continued to look down at me, grinning. Although I wanted to get as far away from it as possible, I didn't want to leave its side. The emotions I was feeling were the strangest I ever had.

I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. The creature blew some black, shadowy smoke out of its mouth. The smoke flooded into mine, going down my throat. I stayed the same, as if I was used to it. Afterwards, the figure disappeared, leaving behind a small cloud of smoke.

I turned back around quickly, suddenly more afraid. My eyes glanced up at the vine I had killed earlier. Suddenly, the vine reached out at me. It wrapped itself around my neck. I began choking and gasping for air. It lifted me off of the ground. I tried to pull the vine off, but it was useless.

My vision became blurry. Tears were forming in my eyes. My heart was racing, and palms were tingling. My gasps were shaky. The vine dropped me on the ground. Everything went black.

"Wyn? Wyn!" Said a familiar voice. "Wyn, wake up!"

I jolted awake, panting and gasping. Tears were forming in my eyes. I was hot and sweaty. My body was trembling, and my mind was racing. I looked around the guest room. Adam was by my side. He had a concerned look on his face.

Finally, I let the tears fall. He hugged me. I buried my face into his shoulder and hugged him back. Adam rubbed my back.

"It was just a dream."  He said reassuringly.

I sniffled. "I-It felt so real. A-And, and I should've felt afraid." I stuttered. "B-But I didn't."

"Why don't you tell me what happened?"

I swallowed hard, my breaths shaky. I explained my nightmare to him. We stopped hugging. He put his hands on my shoulders, looking into my eyes. I stared right back at him. He sighed.

"It was just a dream. I'm sure it meant nothing. Just try to go back to sleep." He said.

Alesa came in the room, and frowned. "What happened?" She asked, walking towards me.

"She just had a nightmare." Adam answered. I looked up at her when she got to my bedside. She hugged me, and I hugged back. Milton ran into the room and hopped on my bed. He licked my face affectionately. I smiled and pet his back. His tail began wagging.

Alesa laughed slightly. "See? There's nothing to worry about. Now why don't you go back to sleep?" She said.

I nodded, then laid back down. The three left the room, closing the door behind them. I tossed and turned for an hour as I tried to sleep. The nightmare was still on my mind. I slept uneasy that night.

The dream had felt so real. But at the same time, it was the fakest dream I had ever had. Why?
