Chapter Eight: She's Just a Child

Adam's P.O.V.

"What? Are you crazy?" I exclaimed.

"Yes, I an crazy," Alesa said. "But I have to go find her! She's in danger out on her own!"

"Alesa," I said. "Wyn has darkness powers that we barely know anything about and she is fully capable of killing us. And you still want to go after her?"

"Adam, she's just a child. She's probably far more scared than we are right now. Dark powers or not, she's still like every other human on the planet, and without special care she will die. Wyn may be different, but so are you and me. And I'm going to find her."

Alesa climbed out the window and ran towards the forest. "Alesa!" I called. I was hesitant of chasing her at first. The last tenant of the house had talked about insane lumberjacks and packs of wolves in the forest. Alesa was putting her life in danger. Just to save a little girl.

I sighed, then climbed out after her. Sometimes I didn't understand that girl's way of thinking.

Wyn's P.O.V.

I ran through the cold and damp forest. It had began to lightly snow. Black tears fell down my face. Even I couldn't believe what I had become.

Suddenly, I heard a deep growling sound behind me. I stopped in my tracks. I turned around, only to see a black wolf with piercing ice blue eyes. All I could push out was a squeak as it stared at me. Just. Stared.

The wolf suddenly charged at me. I screamed, tumbling over. The fall barely made me dodge it. I pushed myself to my feet and ran. Ran as fast as they would let me go. The wolf ran after me about as quick as I was. The trees were too tall to climb. I would be forced to run forever if I wanted to live.

Finally, I found it. A tree I could just barely try. Panting, I hoisted myself onto the lowest branch and climbed up from there. The wolf jumped on the tree and scratched it. It was obvious the creature was trying to get up.

"Go away!" I cried, my voice shaking.

By instinct, I put my hand out. A dark ball flew out. It crashed on the wolf's paw. The wolf wimpered and jumped back. It ran away into the forest the best it could with an injured paw.

"Wait! I'm sorry!" I called weakly. "I didn't mean to!"

The wolf ran-or was it limped?- out of sight. I sighed heavily. I truly was a monster
