Chapter 29

Clutching your stomach, Jerome pulled up at the hospital. "J-jerome, you can't come in" You breathed out in agony knowing the minute he showed his face, someone would call the GCPD. "Yes I can. I don't care what they do this is more important" He was too stubborn to let this go.

Carefully, you tried to climb out the door but your body was too weak. You collapsed into Jerome's arms as he grabbed your arm and wrapped it around his neck, carrying you to the entrance.

"Excuse me but- wait! You're him! Your the maniac!" A woman at the reception spotted Jerome immediately and fumbled around to pick up the phone. But Jerome was too quick for her; he walked up to the glass with a threatening stare and whispered to her "listen here. This lady is about to give birth, now I suggest you help her right now and forget about me or else I'll make sure that this entire place goes up in flames. You understand?" Jerome hadn't even finished his sentence before the woman was nodding furiously and directly you to a room.

Jerome tried his best to keep out of sight, keeping his head low and staying quiet until you landed in a room decked with equipment you'd never seen before. It was a closed off, single patient room so no one came in. Jerome gently layed you down on the bed and took your hand which took you by surprise a little. You rarely saw him this nice in public.

"This will be over quickly dear, just hang in there" The nurse was petrified of Jerome but managed to contain herself through the procedure. The pain was growing worse getting unbearable. Your vision was deteriorating until you could only see the silhouettes of people around you. More nurses came to your aid, each one trying not to notice Jerome who was standing beside you.

"Ok dear, we're going to need you to push slightly. After three ok" You nodded reluctantly "1, 2, 3" You took a deep breath and pushed as hard as you could. You screamed out in pain, squeezing Jerome's hand as hard as you could. "Very good, ok and again" The nurse counted down and you pushed a second time. You could see Jerome screwing his face at the unpleasant sight which did not help at all.

"Alright, almost there. I need you to breathe in and out for me" The nurse helped you perform a breathing exercise over your yelling. Hot tears streamed down your face as your entire body began hurting like never before.

You had no clue how long you had spent in the hospital, time was not a priority here. "We can see the head! One more gentle push and it's out" The nurse counted down for a final time and sure enough the baby was born.

"Congratulations! You've got a healthy baby boy!" A wave of relief washed over you knowing the baby was healthy and it was all over. The nurse handed you the baby wrapped in a towel as you took him from her and rested him in yours. "Damn gorgeous, you have a firm grip" Jerome spoke for the first time, massaging his hand. You apologized as he leaned over to look at his child.

"Hmmm, he has my eyes. He's gonna be a handsome devil one day" Jerome smirked to himself like he was proud of what he created, you just simply rolled your eyes but deep down you agreed.

"Uh, uh, uh, not so fast" The nurses were heading for the door but Jerome stopped them just in time. "You see, I was gonna kill ya, buuuut seeing as you helped us, I think I'm gonna let you go, But! On one condition. You do not tell a single soul about any of this and if you do, I will be back" All three nurses nodded simultaneously and ran out the door leaving you and Jerome alone.

"You were going to kill them huh" You stared at Jerome in judgement. "Nah that was just to look more intimidating" Jerome laughed reaching out to hold the baby. You handed Jerome your child and watched as he cradled him in his arms, slowly rocking him side to side.

"This will be fun" He muttered under his breath. You had no idea what that meant but you were too exhausted to care.
