So that was his name, Jerome.
Your heart began racing like there was no tomorrow, you genuinely felt like you were going to pass out. No way was your crush standing in front of you with his perfectly slick hair and cheeky grin calling you gorgeous.
"Uh, h-hey" Stammering you fixed your blouse from any creases that may have crept up. "Did ya like the show?" Jerome pointed his gloved finger towards the now dimly lit tent that once gave off a magical feel. "Yeah it was great, you were great, just like every year" You gained control of your voice but nerves were building up by the minute.
Jerome smirked as he took an exaggerated bow in front of you, "yeah I noticed you here last year". So you weren't dreaming he did actually stare at you.
You turned to see Alice walking towards you, she stopped the minute she saw Jerome, winked and walked to the car smiling to herself. You rolled your eyes as you heard Jerome shout after her, " Go home it's alright I'll look after-" He turned back to you "what's your name gorgeous?" You scoffed, shaking your head "y/n" You replied.
"Y/n she's in safe hands!" Jerome finished shouting at Alice who laughed and waved goodbye before jumping into the car and driving off. She knew you was strong enough and old enough to defend yourself if need be.
"So what d'ya say I give you a tour of the circus hmm gorgeous" His voice sent shivers down your spine, "I've been coming here every year, I know this place inside out" Jerome scoffed and rolled his eyes "you may know it but I bet you haven't experienced it" He held out his hand to which you gracefully took it.
He walked towards the tent and led you through the doorway. The place looked a lot more eerie and sinister when the lights were off and it was quiet. He skipped towards the stage grabbing a hoop that one of the trapeze artists used, motioning you towards him.
He pushed a button to his left causing a dazzling spotlight to shine directly onto you both, he must sweat like crazy under this you thought to yourself. All of a sudden you felt his warm hand slide round your waist and pull you close to him "hold on" He whispered in your ear. Before you knew it the hoop had flown into the air dragging you both with it. Your feet separated from the floor and all you were in contact with was Jerome.
The air whipped your face as you spun around in every direction, faster and faster until you were laughing uncontrollably. You could hear Jerome chuckling to himself as he twisted the hoop from side to side. He was extremely strong to be able to hold both yours and his weight in just one hand. A part of you was terrified he was going to slip but the other part told you to stop worrying and enjoy it.
After a few minutes of pure joy and adrenaline, the pair of you slowly climbed down until both your feet were safely on the ground once more. "That was just the beginning gorgeous" Jerome panted, your eyebrows furrowed into confusion but before you could even begin to imagine what he was planning he had already gripped your wrist and pulled you behind the main curtain.
Costumes and equipment piled the space leaving a tiny walkway in and out. You had walked for a few minutes until Jerome halted at a man locking a crate of drinks. Jerome let go of your wrist and began walking up to him leaving you to ponder what the hell was going on. You watched as Jerome whispered in his ear followed by the man nodding and walking off.
"Let's go" Jerome held out his hand once more making you take it and start walking.
As you walked out of the tent you were greeted by the biggest Ferris wheel you had ever seen. It was always here but you had never been on one. It was lit up by purple and green flashing lights mesmerizing you, most people had left so it was empty but of course Jerome pulled you into one of the seats.
It took off. The ride was slow but peaceful enough to take in every beauty that surrounded it, and no not just Jerome. As you reached the top, the ride came to a stop, once again your heart began racing. Was it broken? Were we stuck up here? You turned to Jerome who to your surprise looked as calm as anything. "What happened!? " You began freaking out but he simply shrugged his shoulders and slumped into the seat.
"Seriously!? Wtf" You yelled but he remained silent which just angered you. Your head leaned over the side to stare at the ground far below, there was no way down, you stood up causing the car to shake slightly. You slowly tipped your body over the car to find any possible way down but it was hopeless, you were too high up and no ladder was tall enough to reach the top.
You was shaking like mad in fear and before you knew it your entire body was leaning over the side. The entire car began shaking more vigorously thanks to you, and the pole that once held the car in place had now unlocked causing you to lose your balance. Suddenly you felt your body give way and topple outside the car. The air rushed through every piece of your skin as you started falling.
Your vision turned to white and your brain went fuzzy, flashing images of your life before you. This was it. You were dead. "fucking hell" You faintly made out the sound of Jerome's concerned voice coming from inside the car and all of a sudden you felt a cold hand wrap around your arm, squeezing tightly.
He wrapped his arm around you as your body sat safely in the car. "I only got him to stop up here so we could take in the view love" He spoke gently for the first time but you were too shocked to focus on anything.

"Roll up! Roll up! Shoot all the targets and claim a prize!" You had finally recovered from what was almost your death when you had reached the ground and Jerome promised to make it up to you.
We had arrived at the prize stands that were blatantly rigged in one way or another. "I'll take a shot" Jerome handed over some notes to the staff member behind the counter who handed him a fake gun in return. "Watch and learn gorgeous" You rolled your eyes as Jerome lifted the gun into position and pulled the trigger. Bang! One target down, only 5 to go.
Bang! Another one down, and another, and another. It surprised you how accurate his aim was- it was almost as if he had used a gun before. He did look pretty hot with one in his hand though.
He was down to the last target "you do it" Jerome spoke, handing you the gun. "What? No, I can't" You tried to give the gun back but he insisted you could do it.
The gun was warm from where Jerome had held it but it was surprisingly light. You felt warm breath on your neck as Jerome had came up from behind. He held your hands steady around the gun and aimed it directly at the target. His breath tickled your neck as he whispered in your ear "you can do it gorgeous, just pull the trigger".
Bang! Your finger released from the trigger as you watched the target plummet. The staff looked taken aback probably because he never saw anyone win but quickly changed his expression before speaking " Congratulations! You win pick any prize you like!"
"Which one do you like gorgeous?" Jerome scanned the prizes to which you shrugged your shoulders not knowing which to chose.
"This one. It has your colour eyes" Jerome pointed to an adorable stuffed snake. You giggled as the man handed you the snake "come back to my trailer I'll give you a drink" Jerome cocked his head towards the exit as you nodded in retaliation.
-------------------
"Alcohol or no?" His trailer was shockingly homely which took you a back slightly. You guessed it had to be if he travelled in it the majority of the time. The sofa was comfy as hell especially with the pillows that literally sunk your head when you layed on them. You saw his different circus outfits lined up against the wall, each looking amazing. "Alcohol, fuck it" You responded.
As Jerome placed the drinks down on the table there was a knock at the door.
"GCPD open up"
