Jet-streams stain the grey-blue sky
A half moon in the early night
An asterisk above the tree-line
Dimmer than the street light
December air nips at my knees
My neighbor's binoculars in hand
And suddenly I can see
Solstice star
Dissolves in two
Saturn and Jupiter—
An insidious moon
Cuts him down with his own scythe
It becomes a starless night
As time slips behind the trees
Once in a lifetime
Gone so soon
