Oh sweet, Eurydice
Does he not look guileless without his horns?
Silver tongue and diamond back,
Stoop down and bend an ear
and he may tell you where golden apples grow.
Sweet Eurydice, I understand
How could you resist?
Even swift Atlanta fell in love for less than this.
And where is Hippomenes now?
Lyin' men are bound to roam.
Darling, words are only words.
And the song sounds sweet, but it's a lyre
He charms blind eyes to turn or weep,
but, lover, will not walk through fire.
Don't you know that snakes have teeth?
Like a tame bitch, you follow
hallowed footprints in the ground
and when you need him to move forward,
he will always turn around.
