I think that maybe I loved you.
Really, who's to say?
I've never been in love before,
at least not in that way.
And so what if I loved you?
Really, what does it change?
If I did, now I don't.
Is that thought not strange?
I know the poetry and adages,
universal truths by any other name.
But I wonder if I ever love,
will it feel the same?
Is it best to have never loved,
or to have loved you first?
And if the latter does prove true,
I hope it is the worst.
