I've always been so damn lucky
When the world's falling apart.
The lights stay on,
The water still runs,
Ceiling never caves,
Heater still hums.
So damn lucky.
Safe and warm.
My hands are tied
Fuck a winter storm.
Author's note: Yeah, this one is pretty crap. It's just a little bit of a vent/info dump written stream of consciousness style with no editing. I feel bad about how lucky I've been when there are people I know who are freezing and going without water, especially because it isn't safe to have them come crash with me where they can also enjoy the benefits of electricity and warm food and because of how much I enjoyed the damn snow over the weekend. I know it's not fair to feel guilty about a situation I didn't cause, or even to feel guilty about enjoying snow when its novelty is kind of the equivalent to a solar eclipse. I just don't like feeling like there's nothing I can do to help. Luckily the roads are getting a little better, so maybe soon we can have people come over.
