A continuous one-shot from 'Home for Christmas'

The moon is shining behind the blinds as the stars dance in the sky. With the night winds howl through the air, puffing against the window. It's typical sounds for this time of year and easy to ignore as Barry continues to sleep. However, soft whimpers alarm him as his eyes widen awake.

"Cait," his voice groggily speaks as he turns over to the body next to him.

Her back facing him, but in the dark, he can see her body starting to tremble. He sits up in concern, wiping away the sleep from his eyes. "Cait," he speaks louder, shaking her softly.

"Don't touch me!" she screams, slapping away his hand as her eyes remain shut. "Leave me alone!" she cries continuing to push him away.

"Cait, wake up," he softly yells, fighting against her as he tries to wrap his arms around her. "Wake up, Cait. It's me, Barry,"

The sound of his name jolts her up. Her eyes widen in fear as she gasps for air. Her vision adjusting to the dark but making out her fiance's face. "Barry," her voice cracking at the sight of him. She buries her face into his chest and holding on to him for dear life.

"Shh, Cait. It's okay. I'm here. I got you," he soothes in her ear, cradling her in his arms, and rocking back and forth while rubbing her back. "It was just a nightmare," he reassures, kissing the top of her head.

"Noo," she cries into his chest, shaking her head. "It was real. I was stuck reliving those awful memories," she whines.

Barry's body stiffens at the mention of her past. Ever since that horrible Christmas dinner at her family's place, she's been having nightmares. He tries to let it go, holding her closer. "That is all in the past. He can't hurt you anymore. I got you, Cait," he reminds, rubbing circles on her back.

She pulls away, shaking her head. "You can't erase the past!" she shouts, her eyes fill with fear as she begins to hyperventilate. "I see him everywhere!" she cries. "He brought such darkness into my life I thought I would never be whole again. His abuse. His touch," she shakes her head violently to remove the images. "Seeing him again scared me that... that he was going to take me back. Take me away from you. I can't lose you," she strains her voice, tears running faster down her face as her fear sinks in.

"Listen to me," Barry breathes, grabbing her hands. "I'm right here. I am sitting here with you in my lap, in our bed, holding you close. Hunter is not here," he stresses, fighting his hold on her hands. "He will never get close to you again as long as I am here, understand?"

Caitlin searches his eyes, her lip quivers as her eyes glass over with fresh tears. Her voice cracks as words escape her mouth. "I'm scared," she cries.

"I got you, Cait," Barry pulls her back to his chest, rubbing his hand down her arms. He kisses the top of her head then lays his head on top of hers. "I got you," he repeats in her ear.

She sniffs, her breathing slowing down as she finds comfort listening to his heartbeat. Her arms wrap around his waist as she breathes in his scent. "Don't let go," she mumbles, shutting her eyes tight.

Barry holds back a chuckle. He would never dream of letting her slip through his fingers. He slowly pulls away as his hands cup her cheeks. His thumbs wipe away at the mixture of fresh and dried tears causing her eyes to flutter open. He smiles down at her then leans forward. His lips tenderly kiss her forehead then move down her face to her eyes, her nose, her cheeks, then lastly brushing against her lips.

"Lights will guide you home," his voice vibrates as he lightly sings to her. "And ignite your bones," he breathlessly.

A smile creeps on her face as her hands wrap around his wrists, to hold him in place. "Barry," her voice barely audible but he smiles back.

"And I will try to fix you," he finishes softly then collides his lips onto hers.

Breathless, she finds the strength to passionately kiss him back. Her hands trailing up into his hair, playing with his ends. He smiles at her soft touch, sliding his hand into her hair and down her neck to pull her closer. She slightly pulls away, to catch her breath, leaning her forehead against his. "I love you," she whispers with a smile.

He nuzzles his nose against hers. "I love you too," he breathes with a smile. "And I will never let you go - until death do us part," he adds, caressing her cheek.

Her eyes shine at his words. Reminding her of the journey ahead to become husband and wife. Her smile widens and she pecks his lips. "Did we just find our wedding song?" she asks, her hand now gazing along his jaw.

"You tell me," he shrugs off. "All I care about is calling you Mrs. Allen," he smiles, pecking her nose.

She giggles, settling her fingers back into his hair. "Well, you did come into my life at a very dark time," she recalls. "I had lost faith in just about everything," she half-smiles, playing with his locks as she looks into his eyes. "You saved my life, Barry," she breathes as fresh tears build up in her eyes.

His face contorts as tears build up in his own eyes. "I guided you home," he humorlessly laughs, wiping away fallen tears on her cheek.

She giggles along with him, nodding her head. "You guided me to you," she smiles. "By helping to fix me," she adds, stopping her movements to just stare at him. Her emotions bubbling over as her heart tugs at the sight of the man in front of her. "You are my everything, Barry Allen," she breathes.

"And you are my everything, Caitlin Snow," he echoes, staring lovingly back at her. His heart so full as his emotions run high. "You are my life. You are my home and nothing and no one is ever going to take you away from me," his voice, choking up with his word. "You are mine," he adds, cupping her face.

"And I am yours," she finishes then pulling him down for a passionate kiss.

He slides them down to lay back on the bed. With Caitlin on top, Barry rolls them over to switch positions. He goes to deepen the kiss when she suddenly pulls away. "What is it?" he asks with concern.

"Promise me something?"

"Anything," he breathes.

She bites her lip as her eyes fill with mirth. "You sing our song at the wedding," she smiles.

"But that," he quips with his eyes wide in shock.

"Please!" she begs, wrapping her arms around his neck. "For me," she adds with puppy dog eyes.

His head falls on the pillow, next to her face. A low groan fills the room before he lifts his head back up to look at her. "Fine. But only because I love you," he grunts, giving in to her demands.

"And I love you."
