She was so close. She was just within Yuuji's grasp, and yet, she slipped through his fingers.
Just a little more. He had time to spare. All he needed to do was find sure fire proof of the gaps in her memory, and she would be on his side.
Easier said than done, but what was Yuuji supposed to do? The only reason he managed to get his memory back little by little was because of the Despair Disease he got back a while ago...
Yuuji felt himself scowling and clenching his fist. This was going to be near impossible. Was that what that warning meant? Keep searching for hope, and it will only plunge one further into despair?
"Upupupu...! Oh, how DREADFUL that look on your face is, Hitsugaya!"
That damn voice.
Yuuji turned feral eyes on the monochrome bear, the anger rising only more and more the longer the bear chortled.
"Mark my words," Yuuji said slowly. "Not only will I kill you, I'll make you suffer before I do so."
"Is that really how you talk to your king?!" Monokuma exclaimed, though he didn't really seemed bothered by it all. "You know, I'll make you eat those words."
Before, Yuuji wouldn't have given Monokuma the satisfaction of seeing him react. But...his old life was the answer to everything going on here, and the fact that he could only remember the parts that hurt the most...
"Hold up, muchacho!" Monokuma laughed. "Hit me, and I'll spear you to death!"
"Shut the fuck up," Yuuji snapped. It was keeping everything to force himself to have some self-control. "Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up-!"
"UPUPUPU! Better be careful there! You might fall for the Insanity Disease at this rate if you let your anger out like this!"
Yuuji's heart threatened to beat out of his chest: the urge to just pummel that damn bear into the ground was so tempting, but instead, Yuuji stomped away.
It was the coward's decision. But it was better to be an alive coward than a dead hero. At least, when it came to this situation.
Yuuji locked himself in his room before he started screaming.
Damn it...! Why couldn't she remember?! The look on her face, she looked like she was so close to remembering, even if it was vaguely. But at the very last moment, her memory failed her.
His fist was repeatedly slamming into the wall behind him, and eventually, his knuckles came back bloody. Damn it, damn it, damn it! How could he fix this? From the way things were escalating, this was not going to end well for him, and he was running out of time.
Time...he needed more time!
Damn it, why couldn't he have more time?! If he just had more time to talk to her, get her to remember what she forgot...they could prove to everyone else what the killing game was about, and prevent everyone else from dying...!
They wouldn't believe him as he is. They distrusted him so much, but Yuuji couldn't do much about that, it was his fault.
Damn it.... damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it---!
Yuuji sat up at the sound of his doorbell. He quickly wiped his eyes: he didn't even realize he had been crying.
"Hitsugaya...?"
It was her. Dallas.
She took a step back, analyzing his face carefully.
"Were...you crying?" She asked slowly.
"No." His voice sounded flat and broken. "Is there something you needed?"
"...do you recognize this?"
She held up something in her hands. It was a silvery bracelet, only the clasp was broken. A charm hung off part of the bracelet.
"It's a bracelet I gave you," Yuuji muttered. "You broke it while investigating a crime scene, and even though we planned on getting it fixed, we never did."
She looked back at the bracelet, examining the charm again.
"...that explains why it has your initials on it," she noted. "Monokuma left this at my door in a little box. But I don't know why."
Monokuma...just what the hell was that bastard doing?
