Team SLVR walked towards the abandoned cathedral, weapons drawn and attention focused on any potential danger that may be coming for them.

"Rose, are you sure this is the place we are supposed to go?" Sapphire asked, clearly unnerved. "Because I don't know if it's just me, but it looks like no one is here."

"That's what the clues lead us to," Rose replied. "An abandoned place where no one would be that used to be led by a corrupt bishop. This is the only place where it could be, since this is one of the only cathedrals in the area that isn't being used because of multiple accidents."

"But honestly..." Varis looked around, an uneasy look on his face. He fixed the visor on his hat in anxiety. "This place is giving me a bad feeling. I feel like we shouldn't risk going in. I sense something in there."

"But we need to follow these clues," Lapis interjected. "This could help us to figure out why Beacon was attacked."

"It is only a covert mission, if fighting can be avoided, we are going to avoid it no matter the cost," Sapphire ordered. "We want to avoid bloodshed. Unless something attacks us first."

They nodded and walked in, the door creaking as they opened it.

The smell of mildew and rotting wood made them all gag. It was so strong that Lapis covered his mouth with his handkerchief, nearly throwing up just from the scent.  How many animals died in this place to get that smell to linger?!

"Oh my god," Sapphire managed to get out before she started to cough. "This place smells so bad!"

"Let's find anything that is suspicious and get the hell out of here," Varis muttered, though his eyes were watering from how bad the smell was. "This pla-"

A loud smack resonated in the cathedral, and just moments later, Varis crumpled to the ground mid-sentence, his bow clattering out of his hands. It happened so fast that they didn't comprehend what was going on until Varis fell to the ground and didn't get up. Blood pooled from his head and onto the ground around him with reckless abandon.

"Varis!" Sapphire and Lapis shouted as Rose went by his side. Varis was bleeding heavily from his head, and no matter what Rose did, Varis remained unconscious. His head rolled around limply, not responding to anything.

"What the hell hit him?" Rose wondered, looking around for anything that was used. Her eyes landed on a ball that was small in size, but when she picked it up, found it to be way heavier than it looked. It was covered in Varis's blood. "A shot put ball? What the hell is something like this doing here?"

    "My, this is a surprise."

An unrecognizable voice spoke, putting the rest of the team on guard. Someone jumped down from the rafters above, a large mask over the upper part of their face and a hood over their hair. A large, eerie grin was plastered on their face, and it grew wider as they took off towards them.

Lapis barely had time to react before the person took a stab at him with their knife, blocking their hit with his dagger, Astrid. However, the person was ready, and kicked Lapis back, sending him flying into a stack of rotting wooden chairs that were piled behind him. The amount of dust that flew into his face blinded him.

By the time Lapis got ahold of his bearings, the person was already engaging in combat with Sapphire and Rose. Whenever Rose swung her giant buster sword, the person jumped onto the blade and kicked around. Sapphire tried to stop the person by swinging her scissor blades back and stabbing her clothing, but the person was much too fast for them. Sapphire got kicked hard in the arm, causing her to drop half of her weapon, and Rose took a blow to the head that knocked her off her feet.
