Kenma's POV
"Kenma! You sure you'll be fine?" Kuro had called out to me that day. His concerned expression sent chills throughout my skin.
"I'm fine... just go already." I lied. There was something wrong with my body. A constant burning sensation coursed around my stomach and to add on to that, an obnoxious headache constantly attacking my forehead.
"Hey... are you really sure? Maybe you should go check since your body-"
"Shut up Kuro, you care too much. I'm not that weak." I didn't mean it in a harsh way. But that seemed to close him off.
We'd been friends for three years. Best friends I suppose. I had never been too eager to make any other ones but Kuro would always be there to defend me from people who judged my gender.
I sighed. Are omegas always treated like this? Weak beings that only know how to breed and become the housewife of some classy alpha.
Kuro had regarded me differently of course. Despite him being one of those 'classy alphas', he had always acted like a proper friend. However, at times he'd show his true nature. To be honest I didn't really hate that. Seeing his soft side and all but that still made me feel helpless against the laws of nature.
I mean, it's the modern times, right? Every living being regardless of their secondary genders should be able to speak their mind to the world... I cannot begin to explain how wrong I was back then.
Ignoring my childhood friend, I dragged my sagging body into the house.
All of a sudden, a wave of fatigue swept over me. Surprised, I slumped to the ground at the entrance of my room, my skin sickly with sweat as the clothes clung onto my skin. The unfamiliar warmth spreading from my torso confined me to the floor. Everything around appeared fuzzy as my head pounded in agony with every heartbeat.
Was it because I stayed up too late playing video games last night? No... I always did that so it shouldn't affect my health that much. I feel so uncomfortable. Why is my body like this? I asked myself in confusion, uncertain of what to do and the reason for my current state. I couldn't even bring myself to move from that spot.
Staring at the ceiling, a good few hours were spent with me just lying there helplessly against the doorway until I heard a series of quiet footsteps work their way towards me.
"Kozume-kun, is everything alright? I didn't hear any gaming noises coming from your room. Dinner's ready so come down and hav-"
My mum walked in, stopping in her tracks when she saw my deteriorated condition. Immediately, her face transitioned into a worried state.
"Kozume, is there something wrong with your body?" The expression she held appeared terrified as she pressed her hand against my forehead pulling back immediately after feeling the feverish surface of my forehead. Instantly, her hand moved to cover her mouth.
"What's...wrong?" I managed to choke out these few words.
"No! No, it's nothing..." The tone seemed very suspicious but I was too tired to respond.
After a brief check on my conditions, she looked at me with somewhat pitiful eyes. She appeared nervous but I could tell she was trying very hard not to show.
"You're sick with a ... fever. I'll help you take care of things such as school absentures. Take a good rest these few days. In fact, go to bed now and when you wake up, I'll bring you some food.." Her voice quivered slightly with each word.
On that note, I knew there was something definitely wrong with my body. What could it be... ? I asked myself. Think, think, think! The symptoms that I have... a fever. Ugh I'm so tired. And why does my mum look so worried? Oh, of course, I'm an omega, an omega is weak... Hang on. I'm an omega and an omega has...
