Kuroo's POV
"Kenma! Ya sure you'll be fine?" I had called out to Kenma that day.
He'd rocked up at school that day with a fever. His whole mindset had seemed out of it as well. He acted significantly more rashly towards me and others.
He said that he was fine but I doubted so. I was genuinely concerned for my best friend. He's the kind of guy that judges things too lightly.
"Hey, just remember that I'm always next door if you ever need me..." I doubt he heard that.
Ha... I really care too much. It's not like first crushes work out anyway. Plus he's an omega. Some rich good looking alpha unlike me will probably come and take him away soon enough...
I really should've confessed much sooner.
That's what I thought before. It was also probably what tortured me for the next following years.
------
The next morning, I woke up extra early and headed towards Kenma's house.
He'd better have recovered. If not, I'm seriously gonna give him a huge beating for snapping me like that yesterday. I thought as I made my way towards his front door.
To be honest, I was actually really worried. Okay, let me repeat again. I clearly recall, I was actually really worried. Yep, I was that kind of a guy back then.
I remember fidgeting at the doorway like crazy before I noticed something was wrong. The house that would always be filled with whatever games that he'd play were unusually quiet.
"Um... excuse me..." I spoke before knocking.
Surprisingly, the door opened inwards.
It revealed a sight that would haunt my dreams from nights to come. Kenma's mother's body splayed across the ground, a pool of blood underneath where her head was.
Ok, ok, ok... I kept telling myself. I've learnt about these situations at school... stay calm... shit, fucking stay calm.
Avoiding the body, I ran towards the nearest telephone dialing the emergency number, my voice and hand trembling throughout the entire process.
After finishing the call, a brief moment of relief was followed by panic.
Shit... Kenma.
I bolted upstairs to an empty room.
------
A series of events happened shortly after.
The ambulance that came had notified my dad. He'd come right away. Incidentally, my brain had fallen into some kind of a dormant state after the shock.
We sat on a row of metal seats outside an emergency operation room.
He let out a stressed sigh and faced me letting his hands fall on my shoulders.
"Listen Tetsu-kun. I'm really proud of you for keeping so calm at a state like this." He showed me a stiff smile.
"The doctors said that Kenma's mother's condition is quite stable. Fortunately, there was nothing internal like brain hemorrhage."
"... Kenma" The only words I caught throughout his sentence.
My dad flinched upon hearing those words. He knew, that was probably the only thing on my mind and hesitated before telling me the current situation.
"Well... you see. Rescue teams had been put to search for him. Apparently similar cases like this were reported to have happened around the whole of Japan. And... sadly... there are no traces to where any of the missing omegas were taken..."
He said it. I think my mind mentally shut for the next couple of days or so.
As the days that became months and then years passed. I don't think I ever got past that traumatic day.
