Storm left the next morning as planned. It was a nice day, nice enough that a pod of Seashockers decided to come to the surface to play. And boy did Storm get some fun out of that. He had dived around their water spouts and swooped under their paddling wings until they became annoyed and halfheartedly tried to bite him. Storm had gotten the message and flew away.
That was a few hours ago. Now, he was somewhere out in the middle of the ocean with no idea where he was. He remembered that Twilight, his mother, used to tell him stories about exploring the archipelago before her capture. She had told stories of great dragons and dangerous humans who called themselves "Vikings." She said that almost every island she visited housed dragons of all kinds, even alphas. Storm wasn't sure that he wanted to meet an alpha. After all, an Alpha would probably obliterate him for not being a "real" dragon.

The sun began to sink a bit lower in the sky as afternoon set upon the world. Storm had started to shiver a bit, as it had become uncannily cold. In the past hour, the temperature had dropped drastically, and ice caps had even started forming on the water's surface. Storm wasn't really used to the cold, after all, the Sanctuary always stayed quite warm most of the year. It had only snowed once that he could remember. That day had been fun. He and Achira had played in the snow all day, along with Twilight and some of the other hatchlings. But, the snow had only lasted for about 2 days before the warmer weather took it away.
The ice was becoming more frequent now. So frequent, in fact, that there appeared to be a floating platform of it up ahead. And, a- wow! Storm slammed on the breaks and hovered in place. There was a huge island that appeared to be made out of ice all the way around. It was covered in massive spikes that seemed to touch the sky. Storm had never seen anything like it! What had caused it? This couldn't be a natural occurrence, right? Then again, Storm didn't know much about the world outside of the Sanctuary. Maybe a kind of dragon had caused it? That was really the only logical conclusion Storm could come up with. It was getting later, and he needed a place to sleep tonight. Maybe this place was abandoned, and he could just rest there until morning? Surely there was no one actually living inside this thing. After all, it would be freezing in there. The cold didn't bother Storm too much, and he was sure he could keep himself warm. Plus, he was curious and wanted to at least take a peek. No harm there, right? With renewed energy, Storm curiously picked his way towards the icy island.
******************************
He had been wrong. So wrong. Upon entering the back of the island, Storm was in for a surprise. The icy cave of an entry point had led to a massive cavern that housed hundreds of dragons of all shapes and sizes. And if that wasn't enough, the biggest dragon Storm had ever seen was lounging right in the center of it all. The dragon was massive, in fact, it barley seemed to fit inside the island.
Storm hadn't been noticed right away. It had taken the sentries several moments to notice the abnormal dragon hovering near their back entrance. Once they did, though, Storm was surrounded in seconds. "Uh, hi?" Storm greeted quizzically. "Who are you, and how did you get in here?" A Hobblegrunt with a thick accent questioned. How rude. "Well, I-I'm not really sure, I just kind of found my way-"
"Are you a rescued sent by Valka?" The other guard, a Nadder, interrupted. Storm's stomach churned. "Um, n-no?"
The guards exchanged glances. Storm was getting uncomfortable. The Nadder peered back at him. "Come with us." Storm did not like the cold tone he was using. He had a really bad feeling about all of this. "No thanks, I think I'll be leaving now." The Nadder suddenly snatched Storm's wing. "I insist." The Hobblegrunt grabbed the other wing. No! Storm yanked his wings out of their grasps and hit the Hobblegrunt with a well-aimed plasma blast. The Nadder stared at him in shock for a moment, before letting out a twisted growl. Storm whipped around and hightailed it out of there. But he wasn't fast enough. "CATCH THAT INTRUDER!" The Nadder screamed. That was all it took. Instantly, about 50 dragons were suddenly in Storm's way. He could see the exit in the ice behind them all, and he took a breath. This wasn't going to end well.
