chapter three─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
THE VERY NEXT MORNING, Florence wakes up at sunrise as the light is breaking through the small gaps in the wooden blinds she had made sure to shut close yesterday. She's immediately taken aback by just how anxious she feels, a creeping, heavy feeling settles in her stomach from the moment she opens her eyes and it stays consistent throughout her getting dressed, brushing through her hair and braiding it.
Two rapid knocks on her door bring her out of a long and very extensive train of thought, mostly worries — and she quickly stands up to open it. She's not the least bit surprised to find Luke, greeting her with a soft expression.
"Good morning," he looks awfully cheerful, bright eyes and a wide smile. Florence reckons she looks the complete opposite of that, tired eyes, slumped shoulders, nervous expression.
She doesn't have time to reply before he turns and begins to make his way up the hill. He needn't ask her to follow, she does so anyways. It is surprisingly warm outside, an early morning sun is peeking out from behind the hilltop and it's casting a warmth on her skin.
"Sleep well?" He asks, turning his head to look at her and his lips are stretched into a humorous smirk.
"I mean sort of..." as on cue she yawns in that very moment and a soft laugh escapes her lips. She can't lie to him, it seems. "No, actually. Not really."
He mirrors her smile, a look of understanding coming upon his features. "I understand it is a big change, coming here."
"Yeah," she hums quietly, offering no more to the conversation and silence falls between them as he leads her up the hill for breakfast service.
The mess hall is in a much larger domed shaped building at the very top of the hill next to a handful of other huts, shaped in a circular formation. She imagines these are the huts where training would happen. Spread across the circular room area are a handful of low tables and the students that have already made their way here are sitting on the floor on pillows as they eat.
No one pays her any particular mind as Florence steps inside next to Luke. "I'll be right back. Get something to eat, will you?"
She nods, watching him take the other exit and disappearing outside. She stands still for half a second, eyes sweeping the interior and the tables to see where she could sit — more specifically she's looking for Ben. It's not that they even know each other, but he's the only one here that she at least knows of. But his table is already crowded full, so she makes a beeline for the one next to his.
