chapter four─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
FLORENCE ADJUSTS TO HER NEW LIFE RATHER QUICKLY. This planet is nicer than most that she has seen since her parents' passing. The air is fresh, the winds are gentle and the sound of the ocean and its waves crashing into cliffs, she finds, is oddly comforting. This island is starkly different from the environments she grew up in and she sort of loves it. At first, she struggled to adjust and accept that this is now her home. But with each passing day she has grown used to it. To the small things that are new to her coming here — and to the things that are painfully reminiscent of home.
Luke pulls her aside almost every day to train her separately, just to give her a shot to catch up. She, while still insecure in her own powers and holding back if even just a little, but she's learning and she's learning well. Every night, and at every minute she has to herself, she sits in her own hut practicing lifting things, coins, the one ingot of beskar she keeps in the little compartment of her backpack where she can hide things. She meditates in the mornings and the evenings. At first it's solely per Luke's recommendation — but after a week or two she finds so much peace and serenity in sitting down quietly to herself and just breathing, that she longs for those moments.
Funny how she finds her new life to be both so incredibly stressful and peaceful; a balance which at first is staggering to her, but she adjusts to quickly and comes to appreciate a lot.
About a month in, Luke says she's ready to join the others for some easy exercise. Florence knows by now that his definition of easy does not correlate with hers, but she is in no place to disagree so one rainy day, she joins the others in the actual training room, which she has barely been in since coming here.
And it goes just... fine, and no more than just that but it's enough to her. She's too scared to really put all her power into her swings and attacks, too scared she might hurt someone and so she pulls her punches. At least everyone leaves unscathed and she has caused no trouble at all. Quite a successful day, if she were to say. So successful, apparently, that Luke decides she'll join them full time.
About a week in, he places her against Ben. She's trembling with an anticipation as he stands a couple feet away, grip around his wooden stick to substitute an actual lightsaber, firm. She mirrors the way he holds his, standing there with her feet planted in the spot, exhaling a shaky breath. He's got a couple inches on her height, broad build, confident expression. She feels incredibly small, even though she knows from experience she can certainly hold her own rather well.
