Hello everyone, I'm really sorry about the long overdue update. I've taken too much on my plate and all I can say right now is that this isn't my top priority. I love writing it but there's nothing I can do about my time. The moment I posted the prologue of this story, I believed I made a promise to complete it and I will In Shaa Allah but right now, you just have to bear me. I'm really really sorry. I love y'all and I can't wait to read your thoughts about this chapter. ❤️
Chapter 8
Iram's POVA few days later I was a lot better than I'd felt all week and I was going to take my questionnaires to my case study again to start afresh. I hated having to do this all over again, not when I'd done my best the first time around.
It was Friday and daddy was coming back in the evening! Finally! I was so excited but a part of me was feeling like something was going to change when daddy comes back but I couldn't quite put a finger as to what.
For the first time, I saw Sa'ad wearing a cap and kaftan and I must say I almost missed my step as I approached the car and he was leaning against it. His right hand was in his pocket and his other hand held his phone.
I've seen a lot of handsome men in my life but Sa'ad's charisma and his ability to stay within his limits and speak only when he was spoken to, made him miles ahead of those other men. He was the perfect caramel skin toned I've always liked and his hair was always cut into a perfect low buzz cut. The way he always carried himself and minded his business was what made him intriguing.
"Good morning." Lest I forget, this was our first meeting since Monday. He had come on Tuesday and he took Saif out for ice cream, which I was strongly against because I didn't like it when people go through so much trouble and after that, I told him to stay at home until Friday which was when my case study approved for me to go back with my questionnaires.
He looked up and stared at me for a few moments, as if examining whether I was still sick or not. "How are you feeling?" He asked as he leaned away from the car and removed his other hand from his pocket, checking his watch in the process. "If you don't want to be late, we should get going."
He walked away after that and I opened the backseat and climbed in. He did the same after a few moments and started driving the car. I wasn't surprised that he wasn't talking, in fact he never talked to me but today there was some sort of tension in the air and I wanted nothing but to clear it as the car felt stuffy.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked him.
"Why would I be mad at you?" He shrugged as his eyes flickered to look at me in the rear view mirror.
"I don't know, maybe because of my behaviour when I was sick?"
"I'm not holding any of that against you, Hafsat." He told me. "Sure, I wasn't trained to deal with cranky patients so I was a little bit exasperated but I understand how you must be feeling at the time."
"Yeah, it was pretty awful but that didn't give me the right to be awful to you so I apologise."
"Apology accepted." He answered with a tiny smile and I sighed as I leaned back in my seat. I continued chatting with Hidayah and invited her over while Sa'ad focused on the road with his jaw locked.
When we arrived, I got down and told him it'd take a while for me to get this done so he could leave and come back after Friday prayer.
"Saif said we are going to the mosque together today." He said to me and I sighed. Saif and Badamasi always went to Friday prayers together, at the beginning of everything Saif really liked Badamasi because Badamasi's son is his friend, they go to the same Islamiyya sponsored by daddy. It seemed Saif had found a new favourite person and he was dumping Badamasi.
