Twenty-Three

~Lam~

" Dude... are you seeing someone else?"- Max asked walking next to me after the last lecture of the day. I scrunched up my face, what is he talking about? "... Listen, when P'Park dropped you off. He asked some of the guys to keep an eye on you." Max stated making me loose my mind. " HE DID WHAT?!..", well that explains the constant stares this entire day. " Calm down!!! He is only marking his territory hahaha"-Max. I rolled my eyes at his comment. Then P'Park texted me that he was on his way to come get me from school.

There's no way I am riding with him, I am not his possession. " Have you seen Forth?..." I asked Max, who simply shrugged his shoulders. I guess I'll take a Uber home, but I need to talk to N'Beam. What did P'Park say to him when he called? Above all, why did he call? I checked my watch, the Moon and Star rehearsals should be over by now. I called his phone, but it went to voicemail. Perhaps, I should go over to his place instead? I called again, and it went to voicemail. So I sent him a text, that stated *I am heading to your place, please let's talk*

~Forth~

I watched as N'Beam's phone went off again from the caller *Lamb*. Is this the guy that has him occupied? I can't deny it, I was curious to know who this person was. Then I saw the text that followed, asking N'Beam to meet him in front of his building. I shouldn't do this, but I'll follow him home. I want to know who this other guy is. "Sorry... I took long, there was a line at the rest room" Beam said returning to his seat. I gave him a weak smile and said, "... that's okay, you feel fine now?". To which he nodded his head yes.

I waited for him to check his phone, to see if he would have a reaction. That would have been a tell sign that the guy texting is the new found interest. But he didn't, instead N'Beam gave me his undivided attention. Almost as if he went to the rest room one man, and returned another. We talked about our future goals and plans. "... Wow, Maldives... I have never been, I'll love to visit one day" Beam said when I told him about our annual family vacations. "Perhaps, once we become official I can bring you along 😉" I said making him blush.

This time around, he didn't react out of shock like before. I think he has warmed up to me. There was glimpses of the sassy boy I met before. The conversation carried on, but at the back of my mind I couldn't help but wonder whom this Lamb guy was. Once dinner was over, I walked him to his car.
"Thanks for having dinner with me Beam, I enjoyed your company." I said to him.

" it was my pleasure, Korean bbq is actually my favorite so thank you for the invite. Drive home safely Phi..."- Beam. We said our goodbyes, and I went over to my car. I waited for about 5 minutes after he drove off, then I followed behind. For some reason my heart was racing, I didn't know how I would react when I set eyes on this other guy. Within 10 minutes, I arrived a N'Beam's building.

I parked about 200 feet from where he had come to a stop. Then a familiar figure catch my eyes, I rubbed my eyes to make sure they weren't deceiving me. Is that Lam?!!! 😳, what is he doing here? I watched as N'Beam got out of his car with a smile 😊. * This can't be!! The guy that's making Lam happy is BEAM? LAM! is the other guy?* I had frozen in place, I didn't anticipate this outcome.

I couldn't hear their conversation from where I stood, but based on body language. Lam looks concern, then N'Beam locked his car. Next, the two walked inside his building. * How come Lam never told me about Beam? Has he been to his place before? How far have they gone?* Okay, I need to snap out of it. There ought to be a perfect explanation of what is going on here. I waited until they went inside, then drove home.

~Lam~

I took an Uber over to N'Beam's place. Stood outside for about 10 minutes, then checked my text I sent to him earlier on. It appeared un-read, so I texted him again when I noticed a white Mercedes pulling up next to me. It was N'Beam, his smile spread like the River Nile and those innocent eyes of his were filled with glee. " P'Lam!!! ..." he leaped out of his car, then he looked at the missed text from me. " I just saw this, have you been out here for long? You look cold, do you want to come inside for some tea?"-Beam.

" Actually, I am not staying of long. I - I just..." I started to talk when a cold breeze nipped at my nostrils. " Phi... please let's go in side. I didn't wear a jacket today, and I am really cold"-N'Beam said. I couldn't deny that I was shivering too. So I followed him inside his building. As we got on the elevator, I couldn't help but notice him stealing glimpses at me. 😂 Why is he so adorable? " This is my floor..." he said when we got to the 4th floor.

I followed him to his dorm, "you can have a seat, I just need to boil some water. It won't take long"-Beam. As he scurried off to the kitchen area, my phone began to ring. It was P'Park, I sighed... then he sent a text, " Are you with the Beam kid 😡?". Oh shit!!! I hope he hasn't found where N'Beam lives already. So I replied him stating , "No, I am with Forth having dinner. Stop being a PEST!!".

" Here you go Phi... I hope it is not too hot"-Beam said handing me the cup of tea. I took the cup and took a deep breathe, " about yesterday..." I proceeded to talk when he interjected. "... Yea, I've thought about it. I am sorry I pry into your life and wasn't honest before hand. I don't think I explained myself well enough last time. I LIKE you Phi, ... ummm. I don't mean to be so forward, but I've been meaning to clarify this to you. But, I guess... I never had a chance huh? Well your Boyfriend made it clear in the phone hehehe"-Beam laughed nervously.

I looked at him, while he fiddled with his fingers. He get more adorable every time I see him, but then the image of Forth gushing over him came to mind. Forth truly like this kid and they met first. My encounter with him was just by chance. So I decided to do what I felt was right, "... I'm happy to hear you like me Nong. But I am back with my boyfriend..:" I lied. He froze when I said that, "... oh... yeah. How silly of me  ☺️. Yea, I felt I needed to clarify things with you that's all. I just couldn't move on if I deny how I felt about you".

" Nong, you only felt that way, because you thought I was Forth. And if you give Forth a chance... you would realize he is a great guy. He really likes you, in fact... I've never seen him this excited about anyone before" I said. Now the latter, was not a lie. Forth is my best friend, and if his happiness comes with me forgoing my feelings for N'Beam. Then that's okay with me. Then, without blinking, N'Beam looked me in the eyes and asked. " Phi...You didn't feel any spark between us... I-I thought..."-Beam.

I walked closer to him, and ruffled his hair. " Yea... I like you Beam... like a brother. And moving forward, I hope you would see me as a friend" I said, lying through my teeth. He looked sad, but then smiled and stated "I would like that...". With that, I pecked him on the forehead, "I'll take my leave now... take care of yourself" I said while walking out of his dorm. I got an Uber, and went home. Don't know what took over me, but I felt a tear on my cheek. *You did the right thing Lam, let him go. He was never meant for you*
