Thirty-Two

~Beam~

The shock look on Wayo's face when we all screamed surprise was hysterical. He was so happy and elated, and couldn't believe we kept it a secret from him for that long.  " Happy birthday Wayo, and I hope you like my present" I said pointing to the gift I've wrapped up. He run over to the presents and hug on P'Pha, while he showered him with kisses. "Seems like we have people from every faculty here. Did you invite your seniors too?"-P'Kit asked Ming. I felt a sudden chill and goosebumps when he asked that. * Will both P'Forth and P'Lam be here tonight? I don't know if I am ready to face them*

"Well P'Pete invited himself, and I think P'Pha also sent an invitation to P'Forth"-Ming. The excitement that I was experiencing not long ago was replaced with anxiety. " Nong, we need to set up the equipments. Can you give me a hand with the drums?" P'Tharn interrupted my thoughts. I went with him to his car to get the band stuff. "...woah ooo watch you step! BEAM!!!.." I felt P'Tharn's arm wrapped around my waist. I was so absent minded, I tripped on a pot hole.

"You need to be careful... you could have hurt yourself badly"-P'Tharn said sounding concerned. " Yea... thank You" I gathered myself and accompanied him with the equipments. As we were walking up the stairs, I saw P'Lam descending the stairs.My heart just started beating really fast. In that moment I wanted to disappear, "... you are all flush, are you not feeling well?". P'Tharn who was going up with me paused and felt on my forehead. Right at that moment, P'Lam made eye contact with me.

~Lam~

I ended up going to the party after much contemplation. Perhaps the guy I saw with N'Beam that day was just a friend. I concocted all these scenarios in my head to Justify what I had witnessed. When we arrived at the venue, it was packed with students from all the faculties. I searched the crowd for Beam, I spotted his friends but he was no where in sight. " Phana even got a live band for his boyfriend, this guy really showing out hahaha"-Pete said nudging me on the side.

But my mind was elsewhere, Forth who talked me to come here is currently a no show. Pete stated that he would be joining us later, I wish he was here right now. I needed moral support, when I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder. " Do you see him?"- I turned to Forth standing right behind me. I felt my tensed limbs suddenly relax. " I don't think he is here Forth... I can't be here, I'm going to leave" I said to him as he also skimmed around the crowd. " Are you sure? Do you want me to go with you?.." -Forth offers. " I am fine, I'll see myself out... I am going to his place from here".

" Su su na, Lammie 😊..."-Forth. After our conversation I started descending the stairs, where I saw N'Beam and that very same guy from the other day.  He looked at me with shock in his eyes, as if he has seen a ghost. I wanted to say something, but suddenly words felt so heavy on my tongue. Instead, I gave them an awkward smile and walked right passed them. *I really blew it!!! N'Beam. I - I..*

Although my initial intention was to leave the party, I couldn't leave. I sat in my car, contemplating on whether I had handled this whole thing wrong. So I texted N'Beam, I had called before hand and was sent to voicemail. I figured, with a text he would at least understand where I am coming from . So I texted, "Beam, I was wrong for letting you go. I need to talk to you. I will wait out in my car, please spare me spare me a minute, even if an ounce of you still feel anything for me. I'll wait until the party is over if needed" *SEND*

~Beam~

P'Lam and I didn't exchange words, but that smile of his alone got my heart palpitating. He walked passed us, and for a moment I wanted to say something to him. Then, all I saw was the back of his head. This is harder than I had imagined, pretending to move on that is.Good thing that I blocked and deleted his number. In hind sight, it was a good thing to do. " Beam... we need to set up. Are good to go?"-P'Tharn.

We went on to perform a number of songs. As the party rage on, I noticed P'Forth in the crowd dancing with some girl. It was a bit awkward when we made eye contact and he simply smiled.  I guess he is not harboring none of what had transpired between us. I went on to enjoy the rest of my night, at least I told myself I was. I laughed when they did, and part took in the conversations to rid myself of thinking of anything else.

Soon, the night came to an end, almost everyone was drunk. For some reason, I didn't have a sip and was very sober. " Beam can we ride with you? Kitty has passed out hahaha, I've had too much to drive"- Ming asked. P'Pha and Wayo had already left, they took a car service. I looked around and everyone was leaving, including P'Forth with the girl he met. I guess P'Lam never returned to the party and went home. At least that's what I thought, up until we went to the parking lot.

All the vehicles were gone, except a very familiar car. I knew whom it belongs to as well, the lot was dark but I could see someone in the car. *Is that P'Lam? Who is he waiting for? Is he picking his friends? Should I let him know they've already left?* "Beam! Let's go! What are you standing there for?"-Ming called out to me from my car. My instinct was to walk over to him, but instead I headed back to my car. From my rear view mirror, I could see and also hear his car start. Then he drove right passed me without even a glance in my direction. * Why was he sitting in the parking lot by himself?*
