Chapter 5
"Ace Of Spades"

This is real... a real dagger. The handle was black painted metal, engraved with a variety of designs. The blade itself was thin and keen, altogether a slick five inches of pure, silver steel.

I turned the knife in my hand, staring down at it in silence. "So, what do you think?" The voice's tone was laced with excitement, as if they were watching me just for my reaction.

"You... want me to use this?" "Well duh!" The specimen leaned closer to the camera, still covered by a shadow. "Using a knife like that would be smooth and quick, it'll make an easy clean up too!"

Oh god... the more I think about this the more I realize I can't do it... I could feel a knot forming in the back of my throat as my eyes ran over the blade.

Suddenly, I flinched at the loud sound of knocking against my door. Shit- the shadow waved to me without speaking, the screen going dark right after. I stood and quickly slipped the knife into my pocket, following that movement by putting the singular earbud directly in my right ear.

The person behind the door knocked again, forcing me to speedily toss the gift box under my bed and rush to the door. Why does Kaito insist on constantly bothering me when I-

"Oh- Kokichi..."

The moment I opened the door I was greeted by a pair of glimmering, lavender eyes. He moved forward and stood prominently before me, a sly smile over his face.

"I'm bored~ let's do something!" He brought his hand up to run it through his violet hair, taking a strand and twirling it against his finger. The boy then pushed past me and entered my room, not considering to consult me first.

"Got anything fun to do Shuichi?" I let out a heavy breath while I shut the door, Kokichi now leaning over my desk. "I don't really know, you kind of just barged in here." I tried my best to laugh off my own remark and rub the back of my neck awkwardly.

"Hey, what's this?" I turned to see Kokichi placing his hand over the gold piece of fabric that I had unraveled earlier. He took the ribbon between his fingers and held it up to me, the silky fabric shinning lightly.

"T-That's nothing, just some trash." I swiftly moved forward and took it from his hand, tossing it into a garage can quickly. Thank god I didn't leave the other items out, I didn't expect him to come inside.

"Didn't you want to hang out? We can go somewhere else if you'd like-" "I'd rather stay here!" The boy collapsed to my bed, taking the sheets fully in his arms and curling around them. Damnit... this timing couldn't be worse.

I heard a couple of muffled giggles come from the sheets as I turned. Kokichi sat himself up, his eyes clenched shut to accommodate his bright smile. I felt my heart flutter a bit as I looked at the smaller male, his ruffled, amaranthine tinted hair softly falling over his face.

The outlines of little dimples appeared at either end of his beaming grin to make his expression all the more heartwarming. I just stopped for a second, not even realizing I was admiring him and his smile. Slowly, his eyes opened. Why do I feel-

"Don't stare at me like that you weirdo! C'mon, let's play a game!" I looked away the moment Kokichi meet my gaze. A game? "W-What kind of game?"
