They open the doors to the mansion. I am curious as to why I am not being brought to The Cages, but I am not necessarily fighting about it.

"We need to prove that you can follow order. Go up the main stairs, and on the fourth door on the left of those stairs; we want you to go in. Do not disobey us, or face punishment." Lord Calum explains.

I am hesitant, but I take a few shaky steps forward. I look at them, and they both seem to be staring me down in a way. I quickly go up the stairs. I need to find a way out. I do not want to be here. I am completely terrified. I think I should gain trust, first. Then when I have it, I run. I run and I never look back.

I get to the top and I go to the left. I go to the forth door, and I open it. I am met with a very dim room. Everything in this house is made of expensive materials, most likely cleaned daily by human maids. The floors were white, either a tile or marble. sort of blinding, actually.

The room had a single bed in it, a dresser, and a desk. Am I supposed to be here?

I go in, and close the door behind me. I look around, and quickly go over to the window. I pull up the blinds, and to my dismay, the windows were barred from the outside. "Crap." I whispered to myself.

"You followed orders." I hear a voice behind me. I jump in fright and turn around. King Michael is there. He closes the door behind me.

"Why am I here?" I ask him. "Sir." I add to sound respectful.

He shrugs and does an over exaggerated smile. "For my amusement, I guess." He smirks.

Was my family such a disturbance to him that he feels the need to torture me himself? He slowly makes his way towards me, his hands behind his back.

He stops when he is right in front of me, I move over to the side and away from the window. I try pushing myself up against the wall, in hopes of disappearing. Wishing I was somewhere else, anywhere but here. "Calm down, please." He smiles. He keeps coming towards me as I corner myself in the back of the room. Nowhere to go now.

"I am not going to calm down! You have killed my family! Taken me hostage!" I yell at him, regretting it right after it comes out of my mouth.

His light-green eyes turn black. I have read about vampire lure, people wrote a lot about it when they started to show up. Their eyes can turn colours. Red or orange when they are hungry and black when they are mad.

I pissed off a vampire.

Good job, Luke, I'm proud of you.

After standing there for about a minute, I feel a hand wrap around my neck. His grip his tight, as he pushes me to the wall and picking me up off the ground. I struggle, even knowing that it wouldn't do anything. At least this will be over with. I lost my family and my freedom - and right now that is almost everything a human can have.

"You will refer to me as Sir, My King, or Master. You will never raise your voice to me, and you will treat me with the uppermost respect. Am I understood?" He asks me.

My head is starting to pound and my vision is becoming blurry. I then hit the ground, air suddenly rushing into my system. I gasp, holding my neck in pain.

"Am I understood?" He asks me.

"Yes Sir." I respond quietly.

"Give me your shoes." He orders.

"Why?" I ask him, and he just keeps the same hard stare. I nod and take them off.

He grabs them and smiles, leaving the room once more. I get up off the ground and go over to the bed. I sit down, thinking about my next move.

Run.

I look over to the door, I hope it is unlocked.

I get up and go over to the door. I turn the knob, and it opens. I smile and look both ways. The hallway is empty.

I go over to the staircase and I quietly, yet swiftly, run down it. I see Lord Ashton in the next room. He sees me as I open the main door. "My King!" He yells.

I run out of the house. I probably could never outrun a vampire, but I could hide from them. Thankfully, they can only smell in a close proximity. They can't track a smell.

But they do have a good sense of hearing. So one wrong move and I am found. I look back and nobody has started to run after me yet. The trees start to get denser, and I look back and see the front door open, King Michael in front of them. They catch a quick glimpse of me.

I go into the forest, and immediately start climbing a nearby tree. I wince as the tree cuts up the bottom of my bare feet. Now I know why King Michael took away my shoes.

In case I ran.

I stop when I am at a reasonable height.

"Luke, I hope you know this was a test. To see if we could trust you or not. If you do not come out from where you are now, you are gong to The Cages. And trust me, if you think this is Hell so far; there is not a way to describe how bad The Cages will be." King Michael laughs.

He is treating me like I am a child.

"Did you forget you were a human once, as well?" I scream out.

"Where are you, Luke?" He asks in a teasing voice.

"You used to be weak, too. Nothing special. You turned yourself into the monster that you are." I tell him.

He is now at the bottom of the tree and he looks up. "Come down Luke, this won't be safe. I tried getting someone from the trees once, and well, they're buried somewhere now." He tells me.

"Do it then, kill me. I don't want to be here anyway." I tell him.

"How about I bring you to The Cages? Or even worse, to the dungeon?" He questions.

Now I am curious. "You have a dungeon?" I counter his questions with a question of my own.

"Yes, and there has only been 9 people down there before. People who betray me, or piss me off enough. 8 of whom were humans. Do you want to know what I do down there?" He asks me. I don't respond, so he keeps going. "I chain them, suspend them from the ceiling. You would not be able to touch the ground. There are so many torture methods down there, it's great. Even better? My blood can heal anything. Any animal, vampire, human. So, I make a human drink my blood. It will heal them. Then we start again. It's a loop. I was generous enough to not bring you to The Cages, just come down from the tree."

I shake my head and respond, "Do it then, bring me down there, Michael. Give me back my freedom, or leave me to rot. I am not obeying you."
