"I'm fine. Just get me some gauze or something." I say to him, not wanting to ruin the day.

We were having an okay day, then the rioters came. I have a feeling that most if not all of them were either dead, turned, or shipped off to The Cages. That is what happened during riots when you enter vampire territory. When rioting in your own area, some people have the chance to escape.

"Are you sure?" He asks me, still looking concerned.

I nod and get up off the ground. I was more scared than in physical pain. I thought I was going to be murdered, or worse. I hold my arm as we walk out of the alley. When we leave, I see blood in the streets. The bodies were already gone, but blood still stained the dark grey tar.

Vampires had cleared, must be getting rid of the mess.

Then I see water hit the pooled blood, I look to see an older vampire hosing down the streets. I smelled the blood, too. But I didn't care too much. My head was aching and my arm throbbing in pain.

"Stay right here please." He says to me and I lean up against the store window. I see a couple vampires pass me, thirsty eyes, but they keep walking. They now know I am with Michael and to not screw with me.

I hear a bell sound and I look to the right to see Michael coming out of the store with some white gause and medical tape.

"Hold your arm out." He says.

I do it and he starts to tightly wrap up my arm. He wraps all the way down, and also wraps my bleeding hand from the wire.

"I'm sorry I ran. I should have stayed where I was but I was near the rioting and I didn't want to be mistaken for some rioter." I explain my actions.

"It's fine. You're forgiven. I'm sorry for running off to deal with them." He replies, taping the end of gause. It looked like I broke my arm, being all covered in bandages.

"Are you still hungry?" I ask him.

"Not entirely, but I know you saw what I did so that is completely understandable. I will still eat with you if you are hungry." He says, scratching the back of his head.

"I bit." I smile.

"Bar and grill?" He asks me.

I nod and he continues to walk down the same sidewalk we were when the rioters showed up.

We didn't walk much after that. We ate lunch, and we left for shopping. I didn't get much, I got myself some new clothing but that was just about it. He got me something called a Hitroph. I am not sure how to use it, but he told me I could start listening to music with it.

I have never actually listened to music. Real music. My family used to sing and hit on books and tables.

I loved singing, it was a fun pasttime.

We went to the pool, dinner, and at that moment we were driving back to his mansion a couple towns away. It was dark, the sun went down about 20 minutes ago. There were stars in the sky, and the moon almost full. Nobody was out at the moment, which slightly surprised me.

"Thanks." I say to him.

"I'm sorry for what happened earlier." He says to me for the tenth time.

I roll my eyes as he finally turns into his driveway.

I get out of the car almost immediately, starting to feel a bit sick. "I'll walk you upstairs." He offers.

"Nah, I'm fine. I will see you tomorrow, yeah?" I ask him.

"Yeah." He smiles and I go up a few steps and open the door. I go up the main flight of stairs, feeling a bit more relaxed. I've had my full of vampires for a day.

"Luke! Wait." I hear before turning down the hall.

I look down and see Michael standing there. "What?" I ask.

"Uh, this came in the mail... I don't know why but I decided to not invade your privacy." He tells me awkwardly.

He had a worn letter in his hand, bloches of brown on the envelope.

"Thanks?" I ask, going back down the stairs and grab it. "Night." I say to him.

I go back up the stairs and quickly go to my room.

I open the letter.

'Luke -

If you are reading this, you have been captured. That means you will have to do anything to escape. Your brother and I hid after the riot and when we returned, you were gone. Come home quickly, son.

-Dad'

I almost fall.

I just stand there in the doorway of my room.

My dad and brother are still alive.

That means I need to get out or I'd be a horrid disappointment to them. They have lost brothers and sisters and parents, but they have never lost a child. I couldn't let them think they lost me somehow.

I need to get out somehow.
