They walked up to the building. The memories flowed back to them. This place is where their bestfriend for several years lived when this started. If they knew. Place for weapons that people hadn't rraided this would be it. Together they pried open the garage door. Untouched. The garage looked like nothing had ever changed. A suburban sat on the right side of the garage, a golf cart on the left.

"Dave I found something!"

"What is it?"

"Catch"

Dave spun around and grabbed what link had flung at him. Gloves.

"Now you're less likely to drop your Kamas in battle."

"Thanks. But guess what I just found?"

"What?"

"A welder, a grinder, and a sharpening stone. If we swing by 'somewhere' on the way back we can make some good weapons."

"Well for now let's see what we find, Dave."

It felt like searching for treasure that his around every corner

"Crowbar!"
"Another lock pick"
"Ratchet set"
"Sandpaper"
"Machete"

The list kept going and going. They stuffed these findings in the car and decided to check upstairs. They went around back and climbed the staircase. They knocked on the old heavy wooden door. They heard something fall over inside. Then they heard a loud yell.

"That's mikes yell!"

Dave kicked open the door and ran inside. He saw mike, but he immediately regretted his choice to run in.

Stand over a badly wounded Mike with fresh blood dripping from his mouth was a large zombie. About 6 foot 6 with a tough build. Something must have snapped inside Link when he saw the fallen comrade, because be lunged himself at the beast. He hit with all his force knocking the behemoth back onto the floor.

"Run! it's too late for me! I've bee. Bit. Leave me here!" Said a dying Mike

DDave's glance moved from mike to Link just in time to see him pierce the skull of the large zombie.

Mike fell totally still. no longer breathing. Then he sat up quickly. Shrieking at Dave and Link.

"Fall back! meet me where you said you would!" yelled a clearly startled Link.

Dave did as he was told. He ran out the still open door and ran down the first flight of stairs then jumped off the railing to get a little more space between him and the now zombified friend of his. He heard link running out behind him. Dave ran straight to the bridge. He had a plan

~Meanwhile from Link's POV~

Link spins around to see Mike was no longer struggling to breath. He shoots up from the floor.

"Fall back!"

He sees Dave run outside. Finally he listened. Mike runs at Link. Link moves to the side just barely avoiding the teeth and claws no lunging for his beating heart. He kicks the former friend into the wall. Knocking him down for only a moment. Link turned to run and join Dave in his flee from the now zombified Mike. Mike let out a shriek from the ground. He ran out of the room and saw Dave jump over the railing. 'Good idea' thought Link. Link ran down and flung himself over the railing. He tried to hit the ground running but only managed to slip and roll on the ground throwing him off. When he got back to his senses, he saw the zombie still chasing him. He got up and began to run a straight line to the bridge. The dirt bike trail had made it relatively easy to just run straight. He soon saw the bridge but he couldn't see Dave anywhere. Trying to stop running for a moment to look for Dave, Link tripped because he tried to stop to fast. His position against a the metal pillars combine with his fear petrified him and he ccouldn't move. The zombie ran quickly at Link.

"Leave him alone you rotten savage!"

A metal baseball bat hit the zombie in the face hard knocking him flat on his back. The swing belonged to no other than Dave. He began swinging rapidly over and over again from the zombies head as he lie on the ground.

"I'm sorry old friend, I can't let you hurt him!"

Tears poured down his face now. He kept swinging until Mikes head was nothing but a smear on the trestles. He turned around and blindly offered his hand to help link up, not even looking at him. Link accepted his help and stood up again.

"Thanks. That was some smart thinking hiding there. I forgot about that old hideout. You saved my life. Let's go back Dave. WWe're done for today."

They silently headed back to the CaFaro house and loaded the car. Before leaving the both looked at the building one last time and said simultaneously:

"Goodbye old friend. You will be missed..." they got in the car and drove away.
