clay, kianna, his mom, and siblings were all gathered around in the living room as clay's mom handed out all of their presents. "kianna, here's yours." she handed the girl the stack of perfectly wrapped presents, around six, and sat back on the couch to watch everyone open their gifts. lauren went first, zeke was second, clay was third, his mom was fourth, kianna went last upon request from clay.

lauren insisted that she opened the one from her first since she was claimed as kianna's favorite, inside the bag was a bottle of 'sauvage' christian dior cologne. "clay picked it out, he said that it was your favorite one." she sat in shock at the fact that the fourteen-year old could afford an item such as that. then again, she had mentioned before that her brother did give her money regularly so she could've just slowly saved up and took from that.

"wow- thank you so much, you really didn't have to..."

"shush, you're basically family so you deserve it!"

she stuck her bottom lip out at the younger girl and engulfed her in a giant hug. lauren meant so much more to kianna than anyone else ever could. even if clay and kianna were to drift again, that wouldn't stop her from coming over to their house just to solely hang out with her. despite their age gap being six years, the other was practically her best friend, it was like that before the unfortunate event happened. once she was finished opening the presents from his siblings, clay pushed more presents towards her. the look on her face was obvious that she was going to kill him for that later.

the first four presents was a cow print pajama set. the sinclair leather platformed dr. martens she had been eyeing for so long, color-blocked sweatpants, and a champion hoodie that was similar one of clay's but in white so they could still match without fully matching.

"okay last one, i promise."  she groaned as clay handed her a smaller box, definitely the smallest box out of all of her presents.

kianna tore off the wrapping paper and almost fell over at what she saw, a small tiffany blue box laid in her hands. she glanced at clay who was smiling from ear to ear. after gently untying the white ribbon on top, afraid she'd somehow damage what was on the inside, she lifted the lid which revealed a pouch in the same blue color. the suspense was killing everyone in the room and it seemed almost like time had slowed.

tears were already threatening to spill from her eyes as she pulled the -what seems to be a necklace- out of the suede pouch. the word 'kian' was engraved into the iconic heart tag with 'please return tiffany&co new york 925' on the back rather than the front. kianna had managed to keep her composure before reading the four letter word, that stupid four letter word caused her to let out a sob that she hadn't let out in front of him in well over six years. four little letters probably seemed like a silly reason to start crying as hard as she did, but there was a deep meaning to them.

kian was the nickname clay had given her to try and cheer her up when they were fifteen. it all goes back to when kianna showed up to clays doorstep really late one night, the memory was as clear as day...

the rain was pounding against the hood of kiannas raincoat as she stepped onto clay's front porch. she knew that his parents were out for their anniversary so questions wouldn't be asked about why she was standing at their door in the pouring rain with her belongings and bloodshot eyes. not that they wouldn't mind, but they'd just get super worried and start questioning every little thing.

clay opened the door and pulled her inside with no hesitation, "kianna, what the hell happened?" although she had a rain jacket on, the rain soaked her face. her incapability to get words out were obvious to clay so he lead her to the couch so she could sit to hopefully calm down a little.
