"what made you come so early? i thought you were even hesitant about coming over tomorrow." clay and kianna were hanging out in the kitchen while his mom and siblings tried to find them a board game or something to play in the livingroom. "i missed your family. and plus, after you said that your sister was upset whenever i stopped showing up made me realize how much i missed all of you— well most of you. you're not one of them." she half jokes with him as he lets out a small chuckle.

kianna would be lying to herself if she said she didn't miss his laugh. she once found comfort in that laugh and hoped that the comfort would be restored if clay could just prove that he's not going anywhere again.

"kianna, i'm serious when i say that i'm truly sorry. i know i've apologized so many times and i don't expect the apologies to get rid of the fact that i abandoned you, but i promise i'll do anything just to show you that i'm not leaving this time. never again." she tenses up as he placed his hands on her shoulders. he sounded honestly genuine when he said those things, but she hated how easily she was already starting to forgive him.

"i know, clay, and i'm trying my best to forgive you but i can't let you off the hook so easily. you pushed me down into a dark path, wether or not you meant to is a whole other story, but it still happened. thank you for trying though, i'm glad you realized how stupid you are." she smiles a little and places one of her hands against his chest pushing him away so she could go into the livingroom.

lauren looked up at her, it being very obvious that the younger girl still admired her after years of being out of touch. she looked at the table that had the pictonary game on it and smiled when lauren said she called kianna as a teammate. "i say it's me, kianna, and clay on a team." zeke, their brother, groaned and complained of lauren always getting to pick the teams.

the group played the game for hours before heading outside to sit by the fire pit just for relaxation. "want to go grab us all some blankets?" clays mom looked over at kianna who nodded 'yes' and went back inside to get them out of the linen closet.

kianna just so happened to be almost the shortest one there. she was of course taller than lauren, but barely by a few inches. "need some help?" the girl jumps at the sudden appearance of clay behind her, "dude i'm so close to reaching them, but yes if you could grab that one up top." she pointed to a neutral colored sherpa blanket. without even thinking about his actions, clay gently places his hand on kianna's hip and reached for the blanket. she could feel her heart practically stop as he did it. even if he didn't notice he did it, it still gave her butterflies that she shouldn't have gotten from that interaction with him.

"here ya go." he smiles down at her and hands her the blanket. his smile instantly dropped when he realized where his hand was, "oh fuck, i'm sorry. i didn't realize i did that. fuck dude—" she pats his hand that was still on her hip despite his rambling about being sorry. "it's okay."

the two go back outside and hand out the blankets they retrieved from inside. "thank you, kianna." clays mom sends her a smile and kianna gives one back. "do you still play guitar?" zeke looks over at kianna who nods in response. "i don't play as much as i used to, but i still do play." clay grabs the acoustic guitar that just so happened to be near them and hands it to kianna.

she tunes the guitar before strumming a few chords just to check if she tuned it right. the only full song she knew how to play was wonderwall by oasis. it was a song she knew clay would immediately catch on to after the first few chords. kianna starts strumming the chords to the song catching a small smile from clay out of the corner of her eye. as she played the song, she realized how much she truly missed everyone. all the memories of what they did together came flooding back which caused her to tear up quite a bit.

although it's dark out, clay could see the tears rolling down her face. he wasn't sure if they were sad or happy tears, but he wanted to make sure she was okay. he didn't want to draw attention to the fact she was crying so he decided to wait until after she finished and everyone went back inside.

"k, are you alright? i saw you crying while you were playing guitar and wanted to make sure everything was okay." he closes the door behind them and she turns to face him. "yeah, yeah i'm fine. everything just kinda hit me at once and overwhelmed me. it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it still caused the water works to happen." she laughs a little and wraps the blanket she had around her shoulders.

clay nods in response and walks her to the front door, "so i'll see you tomorrow then?" she hands him the blanket and shrugs. "maybe, i dunno yet. depends if i decide to be nice to you tomorrow." she jokes earning a laugh from him. "fair." kianna waves him goodbye and turns to leave, "hey k...goodnight. and be safe in the way home." he leans against the doorframe and watches her get into her car. "goodnight clay, i'll try my best." and with that she headed back home.
