"Oh my gosh! I'm so glad you're safe Dustin!" Liz captured him in a bear hug. Dustin smiled and hugged back while Derrick was driving and Jake was confused. Liz broke the hug and had a huge smile on her face. Jake scooted over to a corner and watched them all still quite confused. "Ah who are you?" Liz turned her attention over to Jake. "I'm J-Jake ma'am. Are you going to turn me in?" Jake stuttered. "Turn you in? Oh I wouldn't do that! I am in debt to you for saving my son, Dustin." Liz said. "Wait, you're his mom?" Jake asked trying to figure things out. "Yes I am." Liz confirmed.
"Then why was he stuck in a basement over at those people's house?" Jake was puzzled. "Reasons boy!" Derrick said starting to join the conversation. "I am very confused but I'll go along with it." Jake shrugged. "Where's your house? I could drop you off there." Derrick offered. Jake looked down and mumbled something. "What?" Derrick asked. "I don't have a family or house I live in." Jake said loud enough for them to hear. "Awe, hey you can stay with us if you'd like." Liz put a hand on Jake's shoulder.
"Really? You do that?" Jake looked up hopefully. "Of course! I bet Dustin would want a brother! Wouldn't you Dustin?" Liz asked. Dustin nodded his head quickly smiling at the question. "Thank you both!" Jake smiled wider than ever. "No problem kiddo!" Liz giggled and moved back to the front. Dustin hugged Jake smiling. "Aye take it easy. You be crushing my poor bones." Jake laughed. "Ops sorry." Dustin laughed to and let go. "You be adopted or no?" Jake asked cautiously. "Uh... Yeah I'm adopted. Those monsters back there were my old parents." Dustin growled at the memory of them. "Ah I see. I was abandoned at six, and then a family took me in. They were mean so I ran away at ten. I was living on the streets ever since." Jake frowned. "Looks like both of you boys have had a rough life. Similar in ways." Liz said. That was true. They were hated since their very first breaths of life. What did they ever do to deserve this? One was a street rat and the other a slave. Silence was often found in between conversations making it a bit awkward. All heading to the police station to tell the tale.
