The car slowed to a stop and the group got out. Jake was hesitant on going in and Dustin had a reason why. Jake formally known as the 'the midnight thief', he stole only what he needed and never wasted anything. He has almost been caught twice. Jake didn't like to steal; he only did it when he needed something, like food, badly. Liz offered that he could stay in the car but he politely declined. Walking in the police station was a bit weird. It was almost empty, only one officer sat behind a desk.
He was scribbling away on some papers. He looked around his fifty's or sixty's. His black hair staring to get grey streaks here and there. "Uh, excuse me sir. We need your help." Derrick said awkwardly. The police officer stopped and turned to face him. "What can I help you with? Usually people just call me if they need help." He asked putting on a poker face. "We have come to report child abusers." Derrick said calmly. "Child abusers heh? Been a long time since I heard that one." He said. "They have locked this boy, Dustin, in the basement. They beat him. They made him do everything like a slave." Liz said looking at Dustin. The man looked at Dustin but saw Jake too.
"Who's the other kid? He looks a lot like the midnight thief..." The man said. "He's Jake, my son." Liz said covering up. "Hmm... Ok. Well I can't put any charges against anyone until I have some proof." The man said. "We do, Dustin take off your necklace." Derrick commanded. Dustin had totally forgotten about it, but he did as he was told. Derrick took the necklace and handed it to the officer. "A necklace? Sorry sir but I can't do anything with a necklace." The man said eyeing it. "Do you have a computer we could use?" Derrick asked. "Yeah it's in the back. Follow me." The man got up and walked down the hallway. Pushing open a door, they found themselves in some sort of computer laboratory. "This will do..." Liz murmured. Derrick turned on one of the computers and started up. His fingers danced across the keyboard quickly, his eyes scanning the screen. "Dustin hand me your necklace." Derrick said after a couple minutes.
Dustin gave Derrick the beaded sting. Derrick stared at the thing before doing something and made an image pop up on the white board. The official was clearly amused. "Watch..." Liz said to him. Derrick hit play and the video started. It was him walking down the streets to his mother smacking him across the face. From a long list to being thrown in the basement. Till Jake had come to free him and their silly meeting and to running for what seemed their lives. All the way to now, the camera pointed at them all showing them on the whiteboard. "That is our story." Dustin said for the first time, startling the dazed man. "That is considered child abuse. I'll get the group and we'll head over there today to put them in the slammer." The man sighed. "Thank you mister.... Thomas." Jake read his name tag. "It's my job. Well I hope this doesn't happen again. I'm sorry for you boy's." The man said sincerely. As the family walked out and about to drive off the official shouted, "Take care!"

Everyone was now safe and happy. Well except near the police.... It wasn't very fun arresting Mike and Clarissa. Not at all. Police cars were parked on the drive way. Thomas, the official that helped Dustin, got out of his car and squinted his eyes at the house. His companion got out and stood beside him. "Alec, let's go." Thomas sighed walking to the door. Alec knocked on the door waiting patiently for either Mike or Clarissa to answer. After about ten minutes Clarissa opened the door slightly then all the way. "Oh officer, how may I help you today?" Clarissa asked politely. "We have come to ask you a few questions." Alec said flatly. "Oh, come in! You can have a seat on the couch and I'll go get Mike." Clarissa smiled stepping aside.
Doing as told the police sat on the couch but we're a bit uneasy for some reason. Clarissa came back with an annoyed Mike. Quickly Mike's expression changed to a blank one. "Hello Mike." Thomas said. "Hello officer, what do you need?" Mike said as sweetly as a giant like him could, which still showed a bit of how horrid he really was. "We come to ask a couple questions..." Alec said. "Go ahead." Mike sternly said. The police started to fire questions at Mike and Clarissa but shot back answers that were highly believable. That was what made them be good liars but on the last few questions they ran out of luck. "Do you have two sons?" Alec asked. "No, we had one." Mike blurted. "Really? What do you mean 'had' one?" Thomas said. "Oh he died a month or two ago in a car accident." Clarissa interjected. "What street was the accident on?" Alec asked. Thomas looked at him confused but went along.
"Lumber Street." Clarissa lied. "What day? And what was your son's name?" Alec questioned. "His name was Dustin and it was on May 13..." Clarissa acted sad. "Oh, that's quite a story but you're lying," Alec confirmed. "I was on Lumber Street all day, each day of May. There were no accidents and no deaths. Thus concludes you're lying." Mike and Clarissa were shocked. "Ok now where is Dustin?" Thomas asked. "He r---" Mike started. "If you lie we'll make your stay even longer." Thomas threatened. "Fine! He ran away but came back but we didn't want him! So we dropped him off at a friend's house! Making up all these lies that we beat him and made him our slave!" Clarissa shouted. Thomas shook his head, "You are lying to me and the law. Therefore you are coming with me." Clarissa stood there her mouth agape. While Mike just looked mad. "Alec let's go." He got up and started to walk out the door.
Alec followed Thomas and so did Mike and Clarissa. As they walked to the car Thomas turned around and put hand put handcuffs on Clarissa faster than she could process. "Let me go! I don't deserve this! Mike help!" Clarissa struggled against Thomas' hold. Mike went berserk he tried to get Clarissa free. The men from the other two cars rushed out trying to stop the gigantic Mike. All the screaming and yelling got some of the neighbor's attention. Clarissa kept screaming while Mike was furious he was thrashing around at the police. He hit one and sent the poor officer flying off his feet.
Then he punched the other one in the gut finally punching Alec in the face breaking his nose. The last one just tazzerd Mike making him fall down in pain. Thomas handcuffed Mike and put the two in the car. Alec came back holding his nose. "God job Alec, let's roll." Thomas got in the car. "I hate my job sometimes...." Alec mumbled before getting in. They drove off with the evil couple in the back.
