The day had come to see what the punishment for Mike and Clarissa was going to be. The day Jake, Liz, Derrick, and Dustin went to decide the fate for the two. Everyone was silent as tension almost always did when something would go wrong. The small 'family' made its way to the doors and opening them. They all were a couple minutes early but that didn't seem to change anything. Liz's heels clicked against the polished floors so did the boy's shoes. All dressed in something formal.
Opening the doors and walking to their seats, everyone's eyes were on them. Cold staring eyes turned to look at the newcomers, their blank faces showing not even the slightest emotion upon them. No one talked; no one showed emotion, no one moved, no one even seemed to even breathe. Kind of like porcelain dolls, not doing anything. Jake and Dustin slowed their pace a bit and cringing from all the sudden attention. Making their way up to their seats and sitting down the judge finally took his seat.
"You all have been called here today to decide the fate of these two, Mike and Clarissa Grieves. Mike. Clarissa. Do you know why you were called here today?" The judge turned his head and looked at them. Neither of them responded. "You two have been claimed of child abuse." The judge sighed. "I disagree sir!" Clarissa yelled getting all the attention. The judge raised an eyebrow at her sudden outburst. "How so?" The judge said. "First off, there is no proof we abused the boy! Second, how do you believe them?! They're nothing but filthy lairs!" Clarissa spat at them.
"You can call me whatever you want! But you may NEVER call Dustin, Liz, or Jake that!" Derrick yelled at Clarissa angrily. The crowd started to roar with murmurs and whispers. "Quiet! Order!" The judge snapped at the crowd making them shut up. Clarissa and Derrick glared daggers at each other from across the room. "To solve who is telling the truth you all may get to tell your side of the story. Starting off will be Mr. Grieves. Any objections? If so say now or forever hold your piece." The judge eyed the crowd and no one stood out. "Good. Now Mr. Grieves I call you to tell your story." The judge went on. For hours they went on debating who was telling the truth and who was lying. Clarissa and Mike argued with them about everything Liz and Derrick had to say.
Word after word. Jake and Dustin sat in the chairs. Jake was trembling slightly and Derrick had gone a bit white since they entered. "Never, have I dreamt of me self being here." Jake's voice said he was a bit shaken. "Hey don't worry Jake. I never would have dreamed I would be here either." Dustin said color seeming to come back to him. "Year right Dustin," Jake said. "Ugh, these people could talk forever." Dustin complained. "I know." Jake chuckled. Dustin laid his head on Jake's shoulder. "Aye, Dustin?" Jake slowly turned his head to see Dustin asleep. Jake chuckled again but softer. "Sweet dreams, Dustin." Jake said and leaned his head against Dustin's slightly. Jake soon to feel into a light sleep against Dustin and Dustin against him.
Another hour or so passed the kids slept, the two couples argued, everyone else watched. Dustin finally woke up to a light shake. "Dustin, wake up." Jake's familiar slight accent whispered in his ears. Dustin opened his tired, groggy eyes to meet the energetic ones of Jake.
"Hmm? What happened?" Dustin sat up rubbing his eyes. "We won. Those peeps were sent to the slammer." Jake cheered. The dark gloomy eyes of Dustin lit up with delight. Liz and Derrick walked over smiling and hugged the two boys. Liz looked at them and said, "We don't need to worry about them anymore." The two boys smiled at each other and hugged. "Let's go! I'm not fond of this place." Derrick said his eyes glancing around the room nervously. "Aye mister Derrick. I never liked the feeling this place gave me." Jake agreed. With that they left.... And got some ice cream on the way home.
