Chapter 10:// 1! 2! 3! Jump!!

My mind went blank to the point where I was too shocked to even retaliate, let alone scream. I needed time to comprehend the reoccurrence of such events. I mean, why me Alex! Why do I have to go through all this! If only he had told me that running for our lives, being chased by a market goon and jumping from window to window is part of the contract, I would've never agreed. I want to go home!!!

After I have taken a few several deep breaths, I dared to peak over my shoulder. We were so high up. I could've never imagined myself doing this in real life, but guess what, this is my new reality for the next whole 2 years! The stranger's pace soon slowed, until I looked over and my jaw dropped at the distance needed to be covered to make it to the next ledge.

"how many more left?"

"just this last one. My place is on the roof of that building." He spoke. Signs of nervousness were heard loud and clear in his voice.

"how are we going to make it over? It's too much." I spoke with furrowed eyebrows. Panic started to take over me and my breathing became unsteady. Suddenly, he whistles a high pith which makes me cringe.

"what the hell was that? You want me to go deaf, huh?" I yelled at him.

"look who's here, your knight in shining armor." I couldn't help but scrunch my nose and cringe once again because he really needs to stop calling him that. But there he was, jogging his way towards us and placing himself on the ledge we need to reach.

"ok, so listen up. I'm going to slowly put you down and you are not going to look down. Once that's accomplished, I want to you to run and jump towards that ledge and jun-"

"ARE YOU MAD! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND! What if I fall and die? What will happen then?"

"milady don't worry, I will catch you" Jeon yelled from the other side.

"and how do I know you won't drop me Jeon?!" I shot back at him

"do you trust me?" he asked

"this is not the ti-" by now, I was standing on my own two feet, on the ledge, trying not look down and fall. But I must say, the wind here is exceptionally cold and wild. And by that, I mean that it was going through the slit and making me shiver and revealing my leg, but I didn't care. I just didn't want to die.

"answer me and do think about it" I thought for a while and thinking about how he held me during our previous fall and didn't let me die or get hurt, so I confidently answered him.

"YES! I trust you!"

"THEN JUMP!" he yelled back with a proud smile on his face an watching him smile gave me confidence. I took a few several deep breaths to calm my nerves down. I turned to see how large the ledge was so I can calculate the amount of momentum I would gain to help make a safe jump which would let me make an almost perfect landing on the other side. But since fate hates me, the ledge was only about 3 ft large, which wasn't enough to run, but enough to take 3-ish steps. I slowly moved back, the stranger standing behind me, letting me utilize most of the remaining space.

1! 2! 3! And I jumped

The adrenaline in my veins fueled me enough to let me keep my eyes open, while my legs cycled through the air to provide me with enough momentum. While I was soaring through the air, I could feel the air go through me and on instinct, my eyes looked over at a wide-eyed Jungkook, who once looked ready to catch me was now looking like a gaping fish. I screamed at the top of my lungs as I noticed that I my landing destination was half-a-foot away from my desired spot. It seemed as if my scream brought him to his senses because I immediately lunged towards the edge, grabbing hold of my wrist while the remaining me hung from the roof.

"Got you, milady!" he spoke loudly for me to hear over the wind with a wide grin on his lips but before I could respond, his nameless friend yelled from the other end.

"You idiot lift her up! Can't you see, her dress isn't the most ideal for such situations and I need room to land as well!"

That's when my gaze retreated to looking down but that didn't help my fear of heights so decided to hide my embarrassed face in nook of my shoulder. My heart sank momentarily as I was hauled up in the air and onto solid ground. Am I really that light weight...should I start eating more 😐?

"Than-"

"Watch out!!" Thud!

"Ouch, that hurt"

"That's what you get for jumping without letting us know. Now get up, it's getting late and-" I cut Jungkook off with my sneeze and when I bent down to cover my legs with the strands of my once known dress, but I felt nothing. Upon moving my gaze to my legs, my beautifully toned legs were on full display in front of 2 complete strangers at sundown. When I looked around, I found the missing piece of cloth underneath the nameless stranger's butt! Could this day get any worse than it already is >-<?

"What are you looking at, have you never seen human legs before?!" I scoffed and began walking only to be called back by the nameless friend saying that his shaft is in the opposite direction.

"I knew that, Thank you very- sneeze!" A shiver ran down my spine and I rubbed my palms on my arms to keep myself warm, completely oblivious of the scarf I had tied on my head until I felt my bangs on my forehead and Jungkook wrapping it around me.

"Hold it in there, we're almost home, hmmm?" Home. How I wished I could go back to my apartment and snuggle with my plushies and watching Disney+. What once was my reality, was now just a hopeful dream keeping me warm in this cold foreign land. I was lost in my trance until a soft tug on my wrist brought me back, telling me that we arrived and motioned to enter.

Hello everyone! I am so sorry about the constant tardiness in my updates. My results are out with only 3/5 courses that have a mark. And to top it off, I didn't do so well on 1/3 subjects displayed. To say life is stressful for me is an understatement. I just feel like giving hope on life right now but I'm to scared to actually jump out of my window...LOL!!!

I hope that all of you are more mentally stable than I am right now and I also hope that through this book, you are also able to relax because at the end of the day...we writers would be of no good if our stories did not reach our readers to point where they can feel the story.
