Soon sleep took over me and I drifted off into dream land, but this dreamland wasn't exactly where I wanted to be.
*Dream land*
I was in a hallway.
A white hallway which was bright enough to blind me but picking up the courage I covered my eyes and slowly began to walk towards the end.
I kept walking, my footsteps matching the beat of my pulse as I focused on my audible breathing. After a good while of walking in the never-ending hallway, whispers kissed my ears.
Evelynnnnnn...Éclaaaaair...
Evelynnnnnn...
Evelynnnnnn...
I immediately stopped dead in my tracks when the distant whispers began to call me. The sweet alluring voice, dripping with freshly extracted honey. The kind which could easily make someone sick on the second bite. I held my ground until the voices in the air morphed into a more familiar yet unrecognizable tone. Unable to resist myself, I found my feet following the whispers while my brain tried to process who the voice belonged to.
Not long after I started to follow the voice to possibly finding its source, my ears perked up, a chill ran down my spine as the hair on my neck rose up like the rest on my body. Temperature dropped; a tear escaped my eye and for some reason I felt the skin beneath it hardens and replacing its sensation with something cold against my skin. Hesitant, I rose my fingers to wipe my cheek, only to be welcomed with cold ice. I took a deep breath and wrapped my arms around my body, whilst curling my finger and bare toes in to potentially slow down the frostbite.
'I have to find a way out'
Without a warning, the bright room turned pitch black and as a reflex I ran in the direction I came from.
I ran! And ran! And I kept running! I ran until my breath would abandon me. Until I was lost in this limbo but that's not what happened. I did run for quite some distance but only to run into someone. And I screamed!! I froze and I SCREAMED!!!
The lights turned on and the person standing before me was none other than Jin! Without wasting anytime, I wrapped my arms around him and sobbed.
I felt him hug me back and gently run his hands through my loose hair and then I heard him speak. "Hush! Shhh! Its ok! Its alright, I'm here now, see!" He sighed. "let it all out...I know you've been through a lot these couple days and its okay if you want to stay like this for a while. First few days are always the most overwhelming ones." I nodded and by now, tears stained the navy jacket of his well ironed suit. "You know, not everyone gets a chance to use the worldwide hand some's shoulder to cry on. So, feel free to feel superior" I giggled at that and pulled away.
"And why's that, may I ask?" and without hesitating he responded, "because you're my sister, that's why 😊" and my heart softened at that. Being the only child (and also the hated) I've felt lonely at times...and scared.
"So, how are you here? I thought we couldn't physically meet?"
"That's because when you sleep, you are in your most vulnerable state. Mentally and physically. And when your mind is unguarded, it is easy to tamper with your thoughts and 'hack' into your subconscious. It is the only I can meet you without using telepathy."
"so, you basically entered my mind without permission?" I folded my arms.
"more or less, yes! And this how we will be meeting from now on for regular reports on your assign-"
"Everyday!"
"Let me finish!! But no! not everyday but say, every second day perhaps?"
"ok" I said dryly and Jin continued. "so, fill me in, what happened?"
